Smoke with a child in the car and you may be fined $200.

About time too....

As a child I was forced to inhale second cigarette smoke whilst traveling for hours in a car that could not have it's windows wound down because it was winter outside.

At least rhesus monkeys got paid to smoke 200 a day...

There's a line. Smoking is a good one to start with when you consider the implications. As ABC says, the intent (and spirit) of the law is important.

If a kid breaks his or her neck in a park a parent might be held accountable in some shape of form depending on the circumstances.

I hear where you are coming from and not many people are looking at your argument which is where do we stop? My answer is - it depends. There are plenty of things which were legal and not now.
