Today i have to pay vacation care bill $365, electric bill $240 and home insurance $570, there goes the wages
Oh and a school trip $10. The phone is hanging together and will have to do. Oh and the PS2 is broken, will take it in for a quote today, oh and my new water pump needs picking up $650 and my driving test $23:scared:

well. i'm going to buck the trend here. i don't think i spend any quicker here than when i was in england. i used to go out for a night out and easily spend £50 without batting an eyelid. here i reckon i spend probably $60/70 and i'm, out a lot longer (since the pubs don't shut until 5am).
ok so i guess it's not all about beer, but i spend around $50 a week at coles/woolies compared to maybe £20/25 a week at tesco/asda/etc.

Thank God! I was thinking it was just me ... all I seem to do is dish out large bundles of money, it just feels like it is running between my fingers like water, I end up feeling quite angry about it. I noticed in the supermarkets we were the odd ones out cos we had a full trolley

You dont have children Im guessing, We did a big shop Wednes and by Fri there was nothing decent left to eat

I've become a reluctant fan of the homebrands - thank god all the supermarkets have increased their range in the last year and are now competing on them and the constant serious "news" stories comparing prices on the likes of "A Current Affair" along with arrival of Aldi seems to be helping a bit. Four people to feed on plastic money isn't easy

As for teabags would prefer PG but not sold here (good reason to return to NZ
) so make do with Tetleys.

If Aldi is the same as it was in the UK I won't be going anywhere near it. The stuff is cheap for a reason.

The pressure is definitley being put on them though. I suspect that Coles will do battle with them by using BiLO as this is there discount equivalent.
I was speaking to a guy who used to work for Bilo and he told me that when they took over another supermarket they would rip out the till areas and put really cheap ones in. They would also take up floor tiles to give it a generally "scabby" appearance. This was all to fool the shopper into thinking that BiLo must be cheap as they weren't spending money on the stores.
