Default Scottish Independence

When the Scots breakaway on the 18.9 what will happen to:

British-ness !
UK Passports
BBC
Olympic Team
NHS

and will the Scots get

Scottish Petroleum
Scottish Gas
Scottish Broadcasting Company
Scottish Health System
No Nuclear

Eat as much fried Mars Bars as you like... with Iru Brew

I do see the benefits of free from UK debt and income (sole) from North Sea oil... a new Norway? perhaps....

Will the UK have be renamed? (may be to NEW) Northern Ireland/England and Wales

If the scots lose the vote... surely the SNP will still continue with another independence vote (no one has asked them this !!) and what I don't know is why Labour is in the debate against SNP when surely it should be the govt of the day the tories !! (the known enemy of the disgruntled scots!)

It aint going to happen. Scotland will vote overwhelmingly to keep the Union. But the English must remember its a Union between two countries not a one sided contract.

Scotland will be independent. The Polls are wrong. In fact, so many businesses are trying to cause trouble saying that Scotland cannot go ahead without the Union...

It is the same as Ireland (when they went independent and have not looked back)... but Ireland does not have any Oil/Gas reserves and with no debt to start off.

The only issues I see is pensions (UK pensions, Health and Unemployment) payments.. otherwise I see no alternative not to be independent.

With that attitude this thread will be neither interesting nor entertaining - I'm not sure if you're trying to provoke an argument or are just barking mad.

There is a better thread in the USA Trailer Park sub-forum.

Newco I agree. At least on the polls being wrong. I think the No vote could be as much as 64%. Anyway, why don't you have a bet? SkyBet are currently the best odds offering 9/2 for a Yes vote. I myself, have had to accept a miserly 9/50 for the No vote.

Mrs P would divorce me if I became a "Yankee". You should look for Dixie on a map of the US.

Here's my question, innocent, naive or stupid as it might be.

If Scotland leaves, will it affect my life in Italy as I know it? (I think not) What, if anything will change for me when I go back to England for holidays?

Unless you have a British Passport as this will be invalid as it contains Scotland ! Great Britain and Northern Ireland it reads.... but Great Britain does not exist... (more like little Britain if Scotland is out) so no British Passport becomes valid...

and that is under European law... Scotland was signed as a party... so everything has to be renewed...

...and to make it worse, as you already have a passport, you will not be eligible for a new one, and thus will be considered a stateless person; rendering you open to summary judgments outside of the rules governed by international conventions. The only safe thing to do will be to go off the grid.
