When you have experienced life in South Africa, have had 4 savages with guns at your head, not knowing what is going to happen to you , your wife and child, then come back and tell me how bad it is , until then stop irritating people who have experienced it with your so called knowledge of life in SA and your minimizing the reality of crime.

As you have suggested, I am somewhat of a simpleton, so humour me please!
My humble question is: If, as you suggest, things are improving in SA, why are FIFA considering their decision to hold the Football World Cup in SA? I think it is 2010.
But already there is a lobby to change the venue.
Hardly a symptom of an improving situation wouldn't you think?
I'll just go back in my dunce's corner and dream up the next stupid post!

I did lead from the front. I was actively involved in Community police forums, neighbourhood watch, I voted, was a police reservist for 4 years and did guard duty in townships and international sports events. I saw and was directly involved in stopping several violent crimes involving guns knives sticks and penis. I saw more violence than was healthy for most. Was stabbed punched shot at and did some shooting back. I councelled people who were on the verge of suicide, due to business loss, drug addiction, alcolism. So dont make the presumption that because you put a few anti posts on this forum that you are assisting more than i did!
But having moved, I have also moved on and made a life here.
I miss South Africa, know all the problems as do many, but just dont feel quite as obsessed with living with a foot in a past life. My future is here now, for better or worse. I say to my son, "look where you are going and not where youve been". I visit the forum less often and mainly to help people achieve their objectives, not mine. I found it useful as a source of information if you can wade through all the stuff you are not really looking for . As such I feel a duty to pass on any help I can where other posts dont answer the questions asked.
Having said that I think it admirable that you feel it your duty to single handely stop migration and tourism to South Africa based on your bad experience a few years ago and reading to much IOL and news24 etc.
