Hi there,

Myself and my two brothers (from the UK) enjoy a bit of adventurous travel and will be arriving in Republic of Congo in a few months. We hope to hire a 4x4 and do a bit of independent exploration. But I am finding it almost impossible to find good, up to date information about the safety/feasibility of exploring the country. Does anyone have any comments or advice on this? We are experienced travellers and have explored a number of African countries before - Sierra Leone, Mozambique, Ethiopia etc.

We will be arriving in June. If anyone fancies meeting up for a drink and a chat about getting around in Congo/general tips the beer will be on us! (And would be happy to bring anything out from the UK you can't get in Congo, seen a few people bemoaning this difficulty on the forum).

How about starting a small business there? Is it very expensive to buy a car? How is public transportation?
I would really love to move to Pointe Noire.
