Default NT tax when working in angola

Hi

I am working in Angola for the forseeable future. I have got my payslip which states I am on a NT tax code (guessing my employer sorted this for me). I am paid from the UAE. I paid 6% local tax.

I am aware I am only allowed to be in the UK for under 90 days if I wish to remain NT? I want to know whether I need to complete any forms to the HMRC either now or when I finally return from working overseas?

I also would like to know as my duties are on vessels or working for vessels completely then I may be able to claim seafarers tax discount and not pay tax, would this be a route worth going down rather than trying to remain out the UK for 90 days?? although I am not sure if this will complicate matters.

Or would I be best off leaving my employee sort these things and hope they deal with it, I am just trying to avoid a tax bill in a few years that may bankrupt me.

Thanks in advance
