Yes, there is, and a large part of that responsibility begins with the Apartheid regime that showed blatant disrespect and hatred for the black population. Animals were treated better than these people! You should not be surprised at the retaliation and the capacity to sustain that hatred. When you have nothing to fight for but basic survival, all social mores fall by the wayside. I don't condone their behaviour, but I do understand that we pulled the trigger.

It is going to take a few generations to wipe out what was cultivated and restore balance. S.A. is going back to seed, and perhaps that is necessary for it to redeveloped as a civilized society - on both sides of the colour barrier.

I was with friend yesterday who spent 30 years in or around Jo burg. She said it was so good when the sirens went in Vanderbilt Park for curfew and 'they' had to leave the town and go back to the townships!!
Why not for a change on this site try to tell some stories of positive things that are happening in SA and there must be some.
I have other white friends who live near Robertson. First generation South Africans. She teaches children with special needs who are backward because their parents) coloured) are alcoholics because of being paid part of their wages in wine. She has been given grant and leave to study this problem. Her eldest daughter who is Downs Syndrome is 19 and receives pension from SA government. Her other daughter is very bright and doing well at school and has been picked to play hockey for the county. This family is very poor
but own their own house and food is still cheap.
I believe there are now African ballet dancers and classical musicians.

Re: Expose crime website
I'm sure there are lots of positive stories, but unfortunately that crime wave hits consistently. There are just too many people I care about that have been seriously impacted.
I've lived in Vanderbijlpark and worked in Vereeniging, and do remember those sirens. I also remember the SAP out with their patrol cars and alsations (german shepherds) patrolling the streets on the hunt for whiley africans that had the nerve to walk the streets, or God forbid, walk around without their ID passes. The South African Police could be cruel b*stards and they knew they could get away with it.
I don't like the new South Africa. It is lawless and the people have become extremely harsh and jaded, and this I see with family and friends I've seen over the past number of years. They're living with the hangover from the mess started and it looks like it will only get worse.
The dynamics of Africa is complicated and it is really hard to explain it to others that have never lived it. People have always been divided over there and who knows if they ever learn to co-exist peacefully in the future. I'd like to think so, but it begins with tossing out the labels and making people (the individual) accountable for their behaviour. Until then, we all lose.

In my experience having lived in SA to 23 years it is not a safe destination and idiots like the FIFA bunch need to held accountable for being irresponsible.
NEWSFLASH:
I am Scots and during my childhood we experienced EXTREME poverty and hey, my father was an alcoholic due to post war syndrome fighting the Japanese in Burma.
I nor my six siblings don’t get a special allowances OR job offers from Japan, in fact my wife drives a Japanese car. You know why, we got over it.
You know what, I ran my own company is SA for five years and developed products to EDUCATE AFRICAN PEOPLE and you know what, I was told that I no longer could do work for the government as I would not HAND OVER 51% ownership of my company to a black person. Hello, I’m Scottish for goodness sake.
Another NEWSFLASH:
Being Scots I did not receive any special treatment from the English due to the history and my parents brought me up to understand responsibility & accountability. I was taught that you do not beg but actually work for a living. There are PLENTY of ballet dancers in Scotland. In fact the Scots have contributed MAJOR technology developments for the world.
I actually considered SA my home up until several years ago when some F*%^$rs stuck a gun in my head whilst stealing my friend’s car. I feel sad that my family (& my wife is South African) were forced out of our home country due to racialist bitterness which filters down from the president of the country. Ultimately we moved on and recently just formed my own company in our new home country. I will contribute to the economy here and already employ a Kiwi.
Repeating tales of murder etcetera will go on as the people that get murdered have friends and family that have NO CHOICE but to find outlets like this site because in their own country it is so common that people in SA don’t flinch at the horror stories happening there. So really people are hoping that the world outside SA starts to realise the truth about South Africa and the dangerous country it is.
When the ANC terrorist group (any organization that bombs innocent people as the ANC did are terrorists) decide to accept responsibility and actually do something about it is the day that we can focus on stories about the ballerinas and classical musicians that SA produces. Hey, my CD collection (a lot of them) is mostly black artists.
NEWSFLASH:
I am not actually a racist bur RE-ACT to being at the mercy of a racist’s government and the racist’s hatred that is filtering down into the streets in SA. Whatever the past was DOES NOT justify what is happening in SA and until the race card stops being used I and folks like me will continue to defend innocent white folk that are getting slaughtered over there.

There is no justification for this hate crime that is being committed. There was no justification for what the apartheid regime did either. There is this insidious thing called hate that has been well cultivated in Southern Africa, and that coupled with high unemployment and little to non-existent educational skills simply stirs the pot. It's Africa, primitive, violent, tribal and anyone thinking it can be anything else is deluding themselves. Africa is going back to the Africans and the world is going to let it happen.
