Botswana
Hello all
I have been offered a job at the uni in Botswana. Does anyone here have any experience of the country or the uni? I was offered the job without an interview so I'm a bit in the dark about it all.
Cheers

Re: Botswana
No I'm certain it is legit. I applied to an ad on the uni website and I had some correspondence with an academic there.

Re: Botswana
Gaborone is nice, Botswanians are generally friendly and welcoming people. Not much to do - lots of camping and nature if you that way inclined. More primitive than South Africa's major cities, but a decent experience for a year or two. I used to visit for long weekends - so I don't have a huge amount of knowledge, but we had offices there and they seemed to be thriving.
Good luck,

Pretty much what Ed said. You'll find it very different if you're used to a busy, metropolitan, lifestyle but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It really depends what you're looking for. It's safer than SA, with much lower rates of violent crime, but there are some worrying indications that this has started to change in the last few years.

Re: Botswana
So, Smithy, did you take up the offer in Botswana?
What do you teach and how are things?
