Default 95 000 ambulance calls 'missed' - 2006 what about 2010 ????

So South Africa wants to host the World Cup in 2010 - bit scary when you read this.

Personally I don't think SA has enough management resources will the right skills to pull it off. This is typical of the SA systems and so-called management styles over there. If it becomes too much hassle just ignore and the problem will go away.

Only problem with that is that the problems are taking over the country and it is fast becoming another Zimbabwe.

If you go to this website have a look at the stories of explosives being used to blast ATM machines and how many arrests are being made for such crimes - zero. So now not only do the criminals have guns they are also using explosives to get what they want and they are not being caught.

Isn’t this just a bit too like terrorism? I mean after all most of the ANC officials were all military trained.

So what do you think FIFA are saying about this or are they too adopting the African management style of let’s just ignore it. I think they have got a lot more to answer for with 2010

Johannesburg - Gauteng emergency ambulance services ignored 95 000 calls in 2006, the Democratic Alliance (DA) said on Sunday.
DA provincial spokesperson on health Jack Bloom said this was revealed in a due-diligence report by the department of local government.
"The report paints a devastating picture of a failed service rendered by most of the local authorities in Gauteng," he said.
According to Bloom, the report said that 765 000 calls were received, but only 670 000 were attended to.
"This means that you have a one in eight chance of not being attended to if you call the emergency call centre," he said.
The report paints a dismal picture of services in Johannesburg, with allegations of "filthy vehicles", an inefficient waste-disposal system, poor management of stations and vehicles standing unmanned and out of operation.
Bloom said ambulance response times also were slow, with the report admitting there was no accurate data to gauge response times in Johannesburg, Tshwane, Ekurhuleni, West Rand and Metsweding.
'Still using manual systems'
"Only Sedibeng was able to give figures, responding to 52% of calls in under 20 minutes, which is reasonable for a rural area."
The West Rand, Sedibeng and Metsweding provided "satisfactory" service.
"We are spending R360m a year on emergency services in Gauteng, but much of this is wasted because of poor management.
"The lack of accurate data is because manual systems still are being used, when we should have computerised long ago," said Bloom.
