I was just wondering if someone can tell me ( from personal experience ) about the value of CPA(US) in Canada. I do know that some qualified accountants in Canada tend to go for CPA especially if they work or intend to work for a US company. Thanks.

US CPA has some value in Canada, but usually you want a Canadian designation as well.

I agree with JAJ. Almost all U.S. companies will give preference to a Canadian designation over a U.S. CPA.

Otherwise, you will have many more Anglo-Saxon Canadians taking the CPA exam.

I am working to get my CGA as well. I agree that it's a must to have a local designation to be marketable. JAJ, can you clarify what do you mean to have a "certain value". In what circumstances and conditions?

Can you clarify then what would be the benefits of having the CPA on top of a Canadian designation if there are any ? Does it really add tangible value whatsoever under any circumstances.
