Finally back to blogging after a while away - apols to the UK crowd but as I'm sure that you can imagine - we have been more that a little busy over the past few weeks!

First off, the house move.  Over two weeks ago now (!) we moved house with the help of some friends from both T's and my work.  The move itself passed very easily, with the whole lot shifted within 4 hours or so.  We thanked our friends with beer and pizza and settled into our new place.  First night - neither of us slept whatsoever!  It was all so different - different house, different room, different bed, and Oscar (bless his furry little paws) was freaking out with all the new places to play.  It didn't help that the neighbours were playing really bassy music till 00.30 - as you can imagine this worried us but we've nothing like it since so are pleased with that.

2 days after the move, my Mum and Dad arrived from the UK!  I took a week off work as I haven't had any hols since I started, and met them at the airport.  It was SO exciting, that the night before was another sleepless one - I really hadn't appreciated just how much I had missed them.

So, I'm waiting at arrivals and although their plane landed at 11.30 I was stood for a good 2 hrs until they made it through the maze of immigration and MAF.  Waiting there, watching couples, families, and loved ones all meet each other again is a kind of weird thing,  almost like snooping into their lives.  It was also great to see their faces as they meet, and each time I was just thinking 'I wish that was me!' - what a big wuss I am.

Well, finally the doors swooshed (technical phrase) back and it really WAS them!  We had a big hug, and it was just SO good to see them again.  They had weathered the journey really well and seemed ready and raring to go and so after dropping off their stuff at home we headed out to walk around ChCh.  It was so cool, showing them all the things that we so often spoke about over the phone and all that!

Then T was back from work and we were all together again - fantastic!  The following week was a blur, as we went to Diamond Harbour, Sumner, Lyttelton, Banks Peninsula, Akaroa, the Port Hills, and Taylors Mistake.  We had planned on Hanmer Springs but they were fully booked so we are hoping to do that before they disappear back to the UK.

Goodness, so much has happened that it is going to take forever to write it out so I'll have to generalise a fair bit.  This weekend just gone we had a big house warming / Halloween party which was a greaf success.  We decorated the new house and invited all of our friends over - and it was fantastic.  So many people made a real effort, and overall the whole thing went off fantastically.  Here's some pics of it:

And here's the motley crue all together:

Believe it or not, Mum and Dad were there in the thivk of it and lasted till 2am!  Hard core or what?!  Why are they not in the pics?  They were taking them!

After that night the following Saturday was a write off for me as the hangover from hell had descended.  T went off to make sandwiches for a do we were due at that evening, and Mum and Dad went off to walk ChCh.  I died on the couch.

Still, that evening we were off to the Avondale School/ North Brighton Lions fund raiser, which was a production by the Sumner Players, an Am Dram crowd.  I reckoned on it being really lame, but I really need to open my mind up a little more as it was a real class evening and the entertainment was bloody good.  Sandwiches were served (cheers T & co!) and it was a bring your own (BYO) booze affair so with a little hair of the dog we were all on form.  Better than watching telly!

On Sunday we went to Riccarton market again (we had been the previous week) as we wanted to do our front garden (or patch of mud as it was) so that it looked better than a rubbish tip.  A good scoot around and we had blown a load of cash but had some cool grasses and flaxes that would cheer up the shady area of dirt and make it look great.  We piled into it on our return ( indetween me making pumpkin soup for lunch out of this:

which was delicious by the way! :0) and then walked into the city for a punt ride courtesy of mum and dad.  It was really good, and although the weather was chilly it was interesting to see familiar landmarks and parks from a different point of view - and of course the numerous ducklings were very sweet.

Whilst they had been here, Mum and Dad had booked a 3 week tour of NZ and that leaves from Auckland tomorrow, and so I dropped them at the airport this morning and they have got their safely.  I'm a bit jealous to be honest, as there are so many great places that they are going to that I want to go back to, that I wanted to go too!

So, that then brings us to now, which is T and I's first evening at home alone together in nearly 2 weeks.  Feels unfamiliar, but we are rapidly getting used to it.

Hey guys!

And hello to Mr and Mrs Wiz. Great to see you guys here again, I'm glad you're all moved in safe and sound. So, your first night you were a bit concerned about the base from the neighbours? I'm guessing that they lay there during your Halloween party wondering who the hell had moved in next door! Your OWN place, you can drill holes in walls, buy new basins and all sorts of cool stuff like that! First stop Mitre 10! I'm sure your'll be very happy there. Enjoy!
