Farewell ye box of shyte!Posted on Wednesday 10 October 2007 at 07:19 - Post Comment
Yup, it is well and truly gone! Following the probs with the Shit Box (as the Sigma is now called) we got the arse and stuck it on Trade Me just to get rid of it. I bunged a very optimistic (in my opinion) $400 'buy it now' on the auction, and blow me down if some mug didn't grab the opportunity to take the old girl off our hands! Here's your last view of the saggy arsed bint:
And the comedy sticker on top of the motor:
The $400 basically leaves us evens on it, so in total it has given us 9 months of {ahem}
Long live Trade Me!
Other than that, the week so far has been wet and miserable. T's had yet another perm teaching job rejection so we just brush that off and move onwards. Looks like next year may well be another contract role whilst we look for a different career that will give T some solidity at last. Let's wait and see. Note for Primary Teachers moving to ChCh - the job market is shyte! Worst of all is that each school must, by law, advertise its vacant positions even if they know that the current 'temp' is who will be getting the job. Gives us futile hope each time an application comes in. What an arse of a system.
Good news on the new house front, as we're off to the solicitors tomorrow avo to sign all the docs. We have a walk around this Sunday, and then we move in on Monday evening! I have convinced T that we can move everything (with the help of a few pals we've bribed with the promise of unlimited beer and pizza) in one evening. T not so sure, so I will have to work triple hard to make sure it happens....! Still, how hard can it be, it's just a few boxes right...?!
Work for us both still goes well, with more hints that I am considered to be management material and that may well be the next step for me in 2008. Sweet! The month has already started well with a placement in the first week - excellent. For T, her class is now up to 22 and so is starting to be a bit exciting. There are some good and bad kids in there, and many are proving to be really interesting. Others are just proving to be 'interesting'! Still, that's teaching eh?
Mum and dad are on their way next week and our excitement is palpable! We have just tried to book a weekend away in Hamner and Kaikoura for us all together, but it is a bloody bank holiday weekend and (there being like gold out here in NZ) eveything is booked solid. Still, no disaster as we have a company car with a fuel card so it just means a bit more time spent driving. We have so much planned as I'll be taking 5 days off, so non weekend days will be doing stuff around ChCh, and the weekend will see us going a little further afield. I hope the weather improves though, it's been gash since Monday!
That's about that, another amazing installation in the amazing life of the amazing NZ O'Dells.
It's... erm... amazing!
