Spring is Sprung!

The chilly winter weather is definately a thing of the past now.  How do we know?  'Cause the heater in our lounde has not been on for a week now - yay!  Being in the the coldest rental in the world means that we live at the same temperature as ourside - and sometimes colder! - but it's been fine this last week and so nice not to be shivering our way into the shower each morning.

What's even better is that all of the spring flowers are well out now - the daffs, narcissi, freshias and all those other lovely sunny spring blooms are making the place look very happy.  We went through the park last Sunday and saw the sweetest brood of ducklings, 10 in all, and just sat and watched them for ages as they were sooooo cute!

Anyway, I am chuffed to bits it is spring, as it is my favourite month and also the start of a lot of new things for us.  We have got a provisional settlement date on the City house of October 15th, which would be fantastic as my parents are coming out soon and arrive on the 18th!  I can't believe it is only a few weeks away, and we are so excited to have some family here with us.  I will be taking a week off when they arrive to show the sights, and have some quality time with them.  Great timing for us too, as we will also be able to get the house sorted much quicker with a couple of pairs of extra hands!  12000 miles to help your son move house - and the last time we saw them they were helping us.... yup - move house!  Busman's holiday or what?!

T had her art stall with Gail yesterday at a small craft fair.  No sales on the day for T, but 1 commission (which is great!) and it has left T & G with lots of enthusiasm for doing it a little more seriously and maybe even getting a stall at the Riccarton Sunday market.  Nothing like getting out there, and it's great seeing the enthusiasm they have for the whole thing.  The fair itself was tiny, with prob not more than 100 people through the doors, so with a larger amount of people as an audience who knows what they'll achieve!

Here's a pic of the stall:

After this pic was taken of them setting up, Mark and I left them to it and headed off for a few hours of man-time, and I introduced Mark to the manly sport of fishing.  He did well for a fishing virgin, in that he didn't lose any gear.  Didn't catch any fish either, but then that's only part of the whole enriching experience, right?  Still, suitably relaxed we went back to pick up the ladies and take down the stall etc, then it was time for a BBQ and poker game at Carlee & Mark's place.  They had got hold of a full on poker table, with proper chips and everything, and so we got ready to learn the game.

It turned out to be a right giggle, with all of us winning at least once.   As only a couple of us had played before it took a while to get a hang of the rules, but once done we were up and running.  Toni got a massive win to start off, and I was down to my last few chips when I managed to unwittingly bluff myself into a big win - it was great fun.  Before all this we sat outside and had a bbq, and it was great to be sat in the fresh air and having a laugh - roll on summer!

So, today we will be off out for a bit of fresh air and will probably visit the Sunday market to skope things out for a stall there.  Otherwise, the flat looks like a bomb as hit it so plenty to be done here too.  I'm off to cook brekkie, as we're starving.  Have a good week all!
