We need a weekend to get over the weekend!

So much for T putting up about her gifts!  There's gratitude for ya.  Ah well, you'll be pleased to hear that a great birthday was had, with T and I spending the evening at MU, a steak restaurant on Lichfield St in the city centre.  The day started well, as we received calls from the friends and family in the UK, as well as a call from our mates G and Mark - and they really perked T up at 6am in the morning.  Pressies were immediately ripped into, and resulted in perfume, chocolate, jewellery, and clothes - a tidy haul and thank you from all in the UK who took the time and effort to send them on their way over here.  It seems that only one package has gone AWOL, and we await its safe arrival with anticipation!

Friday evening was a quiet affair, as Saturday night was going to be a big event - and boy was it!  We had Chanelle, Olly and G over here first, then we all cabbed into the city and started off at the Tap Rooms. Then we went to Fish and Chips in His Lordships Lane to watch NZ vs Portugal on the big screen. 20 minutes in and The All Blacks were away and clear, so we headed on to The Tree House, a karaoke club.  Here we got large on it, and wound up riding the mechanical bull (!) along with singing on the stage.  T did a fantastic job, doing the entire 30 seconds on the bull before blitzing us all at karaoke singing 'I need a hero' by Bonnie Tyler.   Great fun!

Sunday was understandably quiet,  and we went for a walk in the 20 degree sunshine through Hagley Park.  It was stunning - all of the daffodils are out, the buds are budding and the river was crystal clear so we saw trout and eels swimming in there.  Beautiful!

Once back at the house Mark and G came over for an easy afternoon of shooting the breeze in the sunshine on our front lawn whilst carefully nursing our respective hangovers.  Toni and G also did some painting, and got pretty much all of their stuff sorted ready for the craft fair next Saturday.  It was great, and so warm that it was as if summer was with us already.

It was all go I can tell you, and this morning I really felt that I was ready for a weekend.  I reckon I'm getting too old for these full-on nights out, and Monday mornings really shouldn't be as hard as this one was.

Maybe I just need to do what the Kiwi's tell me to, and 'Harden up bro'!'
