Sunday Fun, and 'What's That Fish - The Answers!'

Today has been a great one.  As the morning dawned clear and cold, and seeing as Oscar had woken us up early as per usual, we went for a brisk walk around Hagley Park.  It was a lovely morning and the dew was heavy on the grass.  The low sun shone through the bare trees and gradually warmed everything up as it rose higher.  We fed the ducks, admired the views of the snow capped mountains, then headed back to the flat for brekkie.

After that we decided to do as we had planed, and took a jaunt out through Lyttleton and Church Bay to Diamond Harbour on Banks Peninsula.  It was a beautiful drive, and we wound up at the Diamond Harbour wharf where we parked up and went for a wander.  The scenery was lovely, and the weather remained stunning the whole time allowing us to walk in just a t-shirt, carrying a jacket for when the sun went in (then it DOES get cold - brrrrr).

T on Diamond Harbour wharf - Hey good lookin'! :

Whilst there, we spotted loads of boats, jet-ski's and the like all frollicking in the sunshine - and then in amongst them all we spotted what looked like a man walking on water!  On closer inspection, it turned out to someone on a punt, sculling it across the harbour.  Most odd!  Here's the best pic we got of him - is it Jesus...?  Who knows.......!

After all this excitement we headed home, and spent a leisurely evening doing some washing and stuff.  Wow - what exciting lives we lead!

Now, the part that you've all been waiting for - the answers to 'Waht's That Fish!'  It seems that google.co.nz is the fishermans friend here in NZ, and that the small red coloured critter is indeed a 'Red Cod' which grow to a decent size and are pretty tasty so I'll be keeping a lookout for a few more of them.  The shark was a 'Spiney Dogfish' and are apparently nothing special as they are a regular catch and get to be annoying after a while.  I'm certainly not annoyed - it's just nice to catch something, or indeed anything!  Now I've got the taste I'll be keeping an eye on the tides as it is getting lighter in the evenings and I could probably fit in a couple of hours fishing after work.  In fact, T is out on Thursday night with her new work colleagues so I could have a bash then.

Well, that's us for the weekend.  Hope the week ahead is good for you all - have a good one.
