Here fishy fishy fishy

Another weekend over already.  Where does the time go?!  We've had another busy one, and it's been all good.

For a start, the weather continues to be stunning, with the last 3 days being full-on long sunny ones and Monday is meant to be more of the same.  If is so nice to be outside in a T-shirt in what is the equivalent of January in the UK!  It was probably around 17 degrees in the Sun today, and 13 or so in the shade.  Not bad at all I have to say.

Both of our weeks were pretty standard, with Toni doing a few days at her new school and with me helping to train and get to know the 2 new team members.  I must say that it's all gone well so far, and I think we're really going to get on well. Here's hoping anyway!

On Friday evening we just chilled out and relaxed, watching the film 'Paparazzi' which was bloody good.  We'd never heard of it before, and just spotted it at the video shop - and it turned out to be wicked.  An easy on the eye crime/ revenge thriller we reccommend to all.  Why were we sat in, being boring folks?  To be honest, it was because I was absolutely shagged out.  Come 9.30 we were in bed as I was nodding in the lounge, and I was asleep by 10.  How lame!  Still, it left me feeling pretty chipper for Saturday which was a good thing as we were kept busy.

In the morning we did a few chores and the like, and then for the afternoon we went and picked up Mark and Gail.  Mark is one of the new employees in my team, and Gail is his 5 week old wife.  They got married in Las Vegas - how cool is that?!  Seeing as they have only recently decided to stay in ChCh, they had not had a chance to scope out the areas away from the city centre, so we offered to do a mini guided tour.  We kind of did the same route as when we did Kelly's video - Ferrymead, Sumner, Taylors Mistake, Lyttleton, The Port Hills, and then Rolleston.  We all had a great time, and on seeing our plot and the price of building a house here, they have been talking of doing nothing else.  NZ property - it's a very contagious business!

As we'd all had such a good time together, we all headed off to watch the newly released Die Hard 4 film, which was brilliant.  How John McLean is not dead yet is a mystery, but as a theatrical event it was wicked.  Great effects, a believable story, and good old Bruce still looks hard as nails.

Today - Sunday - has been an easy one.  I had some work to do in the morning and so T spend time on the PC doing an alphabet frieze which looks great.  Then, whilst she went out and had lunch with her mate Chanelle, I took the opportunity of a few spare hours and went fishing at Sumner.  When we passed it yesterday it all looked so inviting that I couldn't resist going back to wet a line.  And it was well worth it, as for the first time here in NZ I caught a little school shark!  It was really sweet and tiny - but with some proper choppers on it.  I caugh two more before it was time to head home, and the biggest was probably a foot or so long.  Great fun, and it was lovely to just sit in the sunshine with the sea lapping at my feet.... bliss.

So, back home now, and the week ahead draws ever nearer.  To ease the pain I've treated myself to a lamb roast - my favourite and a little bit of home.  I think I'll do some yorkshires with it too, just to rub it in to Toni who is still doing well on the Jenny Craig diet.  As a nod to aiming to lose a little more weight myself, I have given up drinking from now until T's birthday and so with that and still cycling to and from work 4 days out of 5 I may be able to actually fit once again into a size 34"!  A bit different from the size 42" trousers I was in this time last year - and boy do I feel better for it.

Still no news from the Estate Agent regarding our final final offer, so we expect ot hear tomorrow.  T is now wondering if we should have gone just a thou' or two higher, but I reckon what we have offered is fair, and wih a flat market there's no need to offer more.  Let's just wait and see I suppose.

Oh, and some good news too, as we got in yesterday to a message from T's sister who actually went around to her old employers and sat there whilst they wrote out a refernce for her.  So, FINALLY it should be with us early next week, and could mean that T's salary is settled and we can really get serious about sorting out our finances.

So, all good news really.  On reading the blogs of others I feel a bit guilty that all has gone so well for us so far, wondering when and how the real downers will decend upon us.  Hopefully not too soon!

Right, T has just found the receipe for Yorkshire puds, and the buzzer for the lamb has just gone.  I'm off to play at Jamie Oliver!
