Will the last one out turn off the lights?

Blimey!  It's all fun and games at work at present.  No sooner do I post up here about our boss implementing a team leader role and inviting my work colleague and I to apply for it, when my work colleague hands in her notice!  Leaving the current team of 3 that has just billed a recored breaking amount for the division, looking a little lacklustre with yours truly being the only remaining consultant not working their notice!

Yup, that really does mean that I could well be a team leader.  Oh yes, I'm on the up baby!  A team leader of myself.  Hmmmmm.... doesn't sound so good when I say it aloud.

So, it's all a bit up in the air at the moment.  My boss is off in Ozzie at a conference, returning next week, so I will get the low down from then onwards.  In a way it will be good in that if I *do* get the team leader role, then I have a hand in building my own team which will be cool.  Let's wait and see - don't count your chickens and all that.

We've just been up to Merivale (posh place just a few minutes North from here) to meet up with Ollie and co for a few pints as today is Ollies birthday proper.  Nice to meet a few more folk, and widen that social circle a little more.  This place really does feel more and more like home each and every day - and it is the 'knowing' people here that is really making it feel that way.  Which is nice.

T and I went to see the Harry Ptter film the other night.  Now, I really enjoyed the first 2 - they had the talking ghosts, the Quidditch, and overall it was a bit of magic fun, and an enjoyable film.  The last 2 have, in my opinion, not been films I would take kids to.  They are shot very darkly, Harry is a miserable sod all the way through, and the only redeeming feature is that Hermione is now sporting a fine pair of lady lumps.  I think that it will be the last I go to and will leave the next one for T + 1 other chump.  I will be in the pub, putting my $15 to better use in tasting a couple of pints of Monteiths finest.

T has just had half a shift this week, so very poor on the supply front.  Still, it's the beginning of a new term and soon the colds will hit, and the latest bug will scoot around, and the phone will start ringing again.  Oh yeah - the phone ringing.  For every shift worked T would be earning a lot more a shift if only her old supply agency in the UK would forward a bloody reference for her!  It has now been TWO MONTHS that we have been waiting for it.  TWO BLOODY MONTHS.  I work in recruitment.  I KNOW what a pain in the arse references can be, but that never stopped me sending one out!  The lady there has assured us she has sent it to us twice.  We have had bills forwarded from the UK, birthday cards, congratulations cards, parcels and not ONE of them has gone missing.  And two of their letters have?  No way Jose.  That simple piece of paper means that for every shift worked, T gets just over half her worth.  When we DO get the reference (if ever) we can claim this money back, but ultimately we could do with that money now.  We've called and called, emailed and emailed, and have now resorted to sending some family around to 'have polite words'.  Buggery people - why can't they do it right first time?!

Friday tomorrow, and payday too!  I get my first bonus as well which will be great, and help fund the O'Dell expedition to Valentino's that evening.  Can't wait.  I dribble every time we walk past the restaurant, and the menu looks F.A.B.  On Sat we've ageed to accompany Olly on a babysitting jaunt (basically a piss-up at someone elses - very posh - house) and on Sunday we may well pop out to do some socialising up in Rangiora.

Busy busy busy - just the way we like it
