My random thoughtsPosted on Monday 9 July 2007 at 07:50 - Post CommentIt is Monday Afternoon, and I would rather type than start preparing the kitchen walls. I thought I would open my mind and let it flow- sorry, I know this can be a dangerous thing and probably difficult to follow, but here goes! It is so cold there at the moment, only a few degrees and even lower inside the flat. If you could see me now, sitting at the laptop, I am sure you would laugh. I am wearing my coat and hat that covers my ears, also have a blanket around my legs, and sitting near a heater. We have 3 heaters, but I swear they just absorb electricity and don't actually heat more than about 1 inch around them! Andy has been working hard at the office recently. There have been murmurings of a restructure because Steve is leaving, so he need to make sure that he makes a good impression. He was writing a proposal for his boss last night. He had to write what he would expect from a good manager. I put my 2 cents in, after reflecting on my managers that have been good to work with, and Jane and Karen from school came to mind! I hate doing washing here! I know doing washing isn’t great anyway, but it is soooooo cold here. I can’t dry anything. So, being the lazy person I am, I have left it till now, and consequently have so much wet washing and have run out of space to put it all- will I ever learn? The car doesn’t like the cold. The glorious Sigma of Beauty is struggling with the cold weather at the moment. It has become apparent only 3 pistons work when it is cold, and this is becoming a problem because being an automatic, it wont change gear without revving loudly. Embarrassing to say the least! We went to see Transformers Last week! Oh My GOD! It was fantastic! We went with Oli and her friend Darren. The effects are great and the story is really well written. Obviously, it is right up my street, but even Andy thought it was superb! It was so good, everyone clapped at the end. We felt like we were back in It reminded me of the hours I spent playing in my room with my transformers, and singing rather badly ‘Transformers- robots in disguise, Transformers- more than meets the eyes’ And people thought I was sad! Pah! Andy can’t find his pants. His pants are in desperate need of being replaced. Either the waist band has lost its elastic tendencies, or the power of his bum has blown holes in them-either way, many now need replacing! So as shopping is my mission, I have looked high and low for the perfect pants for him, and perfect they need to be! Not too short in the leg, but not too long either. Not a wide waistband, but not to skinny either. No buttons, not loose but not too tight. Nice material, but not too silky(many are here!). On the occasions I have taken him with me, on this subject, he seems to revert to a typical woman. Taking the approach of looking at every pair of pants in the whole place before making a decision. God forbid it would be rash- and as a result he has yet to find pants that compare to the old favorites of Jeff Banks and Pringle pants from Matalan. I am very surprised you didn’t hear his call all the way over in So after much searching and receiving no fruit from our labour, we have decided to ask Kelly and Carl to put as many pairs as they can fit into all the very small spaces in their container! It has also made it onto our list! (for reference-size M, dark colours only. White is too dangerous!) The list? I hear you say. Yes our list of things that just aren’t the same here in NZ. We do understand that things will be different, but there are some things that are just plain wrong! The Marmite here is the wrongest of the lot. Its grainy and tastes awful. I hunted down a little English grocer and now buy MY MATE, marmite’s alternative name. Its great, and little piece of home. Andy buys fruit gums by rowntree aswell. He loves the little teeth ripping things The lack of fashion sense. The shops here are selling awful clothes that aren’t any particular style. Also, they are selling thing that I have seen in New Look or Dotty P’s about 2 years ago. I never thought I would want the shallow styles that only look good in size 6 from Topshop, but I miss the aspirations they install in people and the guidance they gave me to become fashionable. Slightly good driving! They drive so badly here, and have really weird rules. It probably stems from the fact 15 year olds can drive and they don’t need insurance! Nuff Said! Any other random thoughts?......... Facebook is really great! Me and Andy spend lots of time on there. I have a great Hubby. I want a cup of tea. We wonder who reads this? More and More people say that they read it, and we are so surprised! If you can comment or just email us, it will keep us inspired. Many thanks to the people who read it! I think I have fully emptied my head for now- it is ready to fill up with even more random stuff! I hope it has bought some entertainment and insight into my life so far. 6 months on Friday 13th. Is that a sign? Much love to you all. T
