All quiet on the western front

So what's new?  Well not much really.  Been relatively quiet the past few days.  Despite expecting a really dead weekend it turned out to be a good 'un.  On Saturday we hitched a lift to Rolleston with my workmate Steve who was playing footie (that's the UK football footie, not the Kiwi rugby footie - easily confused!!!) there.  After dropping him off at the meet-up, we buggered off for a drive around, and scoped out an open home.  It was interesting, but bloody cold as they only had a log burner for heating and so the living area was warm but the rest of the place was 'see your breath' freezing - and this is a brand new home!  It just reinforced the need for central heating for us, and so we will definately be heading down that avenue when it comes to house building time and damn the expense.

Sat evening was an easy one in front of a few dvd's, and as Sunday dawned cold but clear we decided to get out in the sunshine.  Had a quick run around Hagley Park with T alongside me on her bike.  It felt great at the time but now it's a couple of days later I am aching like mad.  Have to get out and do it again, that should make the aches go away.

After luch it was time to head off to see our friends Gary & Justine in Halwell (The couple building in Rolleston who's roof party we wnet to about a month or so ago).  We were joined by Robin (who's place they are staying at) after he finished work, and what started as a social chat turned into a lengthy drinking session.   We got there at 2pm, and finally left at 11.30pm!  I was absoulely shedded, and can only say that Gary is a bloody bad influence on me.   The ever lovely T had stayed off the grog and poured me into the car to drive home.  Believe me, Monday at work was not one of my most productive days, and I only just feel right this morning.  Getting old does something to your alcohol recovery time, I swear!

Still, it was absolutely brilliant to relax and chat with a few like minded folks and we all had a great time.  Gary is also an absolute mine of info on house building methods and suppliers so we'll be bothering him like mad as time goes on.

T has 3.5 days of supply booked already for this week, which is great stuff and because it is all at the same school it means that for the first time she can actually plan ahead.  Great to know what is going on the next day too.  There was a slight prob Monday morning in that the car - The Sigma of Much Beauty - threw a hissy fit and conked out just as T was heading off to work. A rescue mission by me managed to get the temperamental bitch up and running again, but it has reinforced T's leanings towards a newer and more reliable model.  However, with me being both tight AND selfish, I am loath to spend any dough on 4 wheeled transport, but can see her point.  A missed day will soon be $200+ bucks to us, and that's money we can't afford to lose just because the car is having an off day.  Over the next month I will either have to see if any bargains catch my eye, or get the The Sigma of Much Beauty serviced and up to scratch.

Still, payday awaits, and this coming weekend we have tickets to go to a restaurant opening so lots to look forward to.  Lovely jubbly!
