A fairly quiet week in Wiz'n'Ton towers. News from the UK is that our nephew is still in hospital with a mystery illness, and will remain there for the next week or so until the doctors have got to the bottom of it. Very worrying for all concerned, and we just have everything crossed for a rapid recovery once his condition has been sussed out.
Work for me has been a mixed bag this week. We did a national 'marketing blitz' yesterday (basically a day of sales calls to our clients, touting for vacancies to fill) with points awarded for number of calls made, number of vacancies secured etc. The three of us here in our office got 2nd, 3rd and 4th place out of 23 taking part - what a result! Unfortunately I was the 4th, so missed out on the cash prizes, but that'll teach me. Must try harder!
Toni has had another busy week of supply, doing 3 and a half days which is just about right. 3 job applications have gone to a 3 different schools - including the Ashburton one - so now it's a case of sit and wait. T's CV rocks now though, so she's feeling a tad more optimistic about the whole thing. Just ONE interview would be a benefit, in order to get an idea of how they work and what questions get asked etc.
We went out on Wednesday night to celebrate T's first pay, and paid the Tap Room a visit. Bloody good it was too. Even better was the fact that we had a buy one, get one free voucher so saved $30. We got it from a book that you can buy here for $60 called 'The Entertainment Book'. It has loads of local offers for restaurants, cafes, bars and attractions across Christchurch and throughout NZ - a real bargain as we've saved over $100 on dining out already, and that's in just 3 uses. In-the-black-bank-balance-tastic!
T is doing her first Tupperware party tonight, so fingers massively crossed that it will be a success and that she'll get a few 'dates' from it. About time that stuff started earning its keep. As for me, I reckon a night in will be just right, as we plan to go and see Pirates of the Caribbean 3 on Sat. If the weather is good on Sunday I quite fancy heading off to the Ruapuna Raceway (local race circuit) for Round 5 of the Drift Race Championships. Apparently it will be full of 'Boguns' (petrol head white trash - think 'Chavs' and you won't be far off) so I reckon the crowd may well be more entertaining than the racing! Worth a punt for the $5 entry fee, and it's on the way to Rolleston so if it turns out to be rubbish then we'll go to a few open homes out there instead as they're always good for a laff! ;)
