Brrrrr!

Well, Autumn has really arrived today.  Rain all day, and all in all pretty miserable.  You know that misty rain that isn't really rain, so you go out and in 5 minutes are soaked, but didn't even realise you were getting wet?  That's what we've had today.  I got drenched cycling in to work this morning, which was not a great start to the day and so I reckon it's time for some waterproofs and cycle lights to cope with the dark mornings and rubbish weather.  The cold has come with it, and it's making us realise just how cold the flat is going to be come winter.  A 3 bar electric heater I picked up for free from a  yard-sale, then fixed, has proved to be the best fo heating our lounge.  The 3 oil filled radiators we've got just don't dish out the heat so quickly, but are better over a long period of time - another Trade Me bargain summer purchase - 3 of them for just $20!!  Now it's cooler they are retailing at $35 each brand new, and nearly as much 2nd hand!  Great forward thinking from the Tonster there.  God knows what the 'leccy bill will be, but we'll worry about that when it comes.

We got some half decent pics on Wednesday before the rain set in, as it was an absolute spanker of a day.  Must have been 17 degrees, and wall to wall sunshine, so the trees looked brilliant.  I don't reckon the camera does them justice, but here's a couple of attempts:

Pretty eh?  I reckon I need to practice my composition a bit, but it gives a flavour.  After the walk we went for a BBQ at Chanelle and Brett's house - a couple of Kiwi's who we have got to know after Toni worked with Chanelle at her last temp placement.  Chanelle & Toni are so similar in their outlook and attitude that at times it's downright scary, believe me!  Their working paths have now diverged, but the beginnings of a friendship are there and it's been great to hang out with a couple of folks our age.

Following the last temp job at NZ Stats coming to an abrupt end, Toni's fortunately landed a couple of weeks temping at a software company.  The money is better, and it's a full week too, which will help out no end on the financial front.  It seems that we have escaped any major outgoings too, so may actually end the month in the black.  Bloody well hope so I can tell you!

Talking of money and stuff, we've just got in from leaflet dropping a couple of hundred of Toni's Tupperware leaflets.  Despite the weather it was good to get out and about, and a great bit of excercise to boot.  Here's what we were touting:

I bet you want to come now too don't you?!  Well all are welcome, but you lot in the UK may struggle with getting here in time!

Wish us luck!

What other news?  Well we have just made our first sale on www.trademe.co.nz  and for those who know of our love of ebay, you can be sure that it won't be our last.  We've already got bids on this http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=97220609 for more than we bought it on Trade Me for so we are still making the magic happen.   Let's see how things go!

This weekend is shaping up to be a bit of a lazy one, apart from Toni's Tupperware exploits.  We may well catch up with a few friends at some point, but if the weather remains the same as now then it'll be a DVD and Duvet weekend.  My favourite!
