NZ NewbiesPosted on Monday 16 April 2007 at 05:59 - Post CommentSo, 3 months since our arrival, and only now am I starting to feel settled here. In the big scheme of things, the ups and downs have been relatively minor, but seem massively MAJOR when you don't have the support group of famlly and friends around you. Still, we're getting there, and that is definately a good thing. Apart from the recent down of me being in hospital for a couple of days (long boring story) things have been very much on the up! 2 big reasons for this: 1) Toni had confirmation of her NZQA approval last Wednesday, and then on Friday was issued with her teaching number. This means that she is now allowed to do what she has travelled 1/2 the world for, and that is teach! Hope the little buggers appreciate it when she does get a job! 2) Toni's old friend from Southend is here with us for a week, and they've been having a great time of it. She really helped keep Toni occupied whilst I was in hospital, and they've loved catching up. So, Easter holidays end in a week's time, and there is now a fair to medium chance that Toni may actually get a teaching shift or 2 - and not a moment too soon I can tell ya!
Yesterday we took Natalie on a tour of the area. This included a trip to Sumner:
Then a quick jaunt over the hills to
We then took a ride on the Gondola, which I thought would be really cheesy - and was pleasantly suprised when it wasn't!
And then it was on to show Nat the house that we will be building:
And from there, on to the land on which we'll be building it!
After all that, the girls still had enough energy to spend hours getting dolled up to go out on the town and large it up! Here's Ton, Nat and Chanelle just before departure...
God knows what they looked like on their arrival back home at 3am - I was well asleep! Certainly not too chipper today, I can tell ya! Anyway, an easy morning then saw us pay Akaroa a visit this avo. Was a good day, and nice to get out and about.
Oh, and seeing as I have a pic - for all you folk with an interest in 4 wheels, here's our current mode of transport. All the neighbours are so jealous, and keep asking if I will ever sell, but quality like this rarely comes along and so I tell them that we'll be holding onto her for the time being:
Envy - it's a terrible thing
