The Simpsons in new zealand
hi there we are the Simpsons we arrived in New Zealand on new years days. We are a family of 4, Myself Tony 50 years old a Dispensing optician, Pauline and 2 grown up boys David 23 and James 19.
We are living right at the east end of Papamoa beach road.
I was lucky to have a job and our residency already sorted before we came out here. We were also lucky to sell our house in the U.K. within 3 weeks.
Pauline used to live here in the seventies, her parents emigrated in 1972, her father still lives in Henderson.
David has found a jpb working in Te Puke for New World ,James is still looking.
New Zealand has given us a great summer much better than when we came on holiday in 86 and 03.
I am somewhat glad the we have no mortgage as the cost of living is higher than expected especially dairy products, I do like blue cheese!
Things I am missing from England are my friends and family, The beer and the six nations rugby championship, ( sholud have sky sorted soon)
Currently i am working in Mt Maunganui for visique optometrists and finding it quite different working for a single indepndently run business rather than a multiple, in england i worked for Dollond and Aitchison.
I have joined the local golf club Omanu) and am starting to integrate.
The house is an ex rental which needs a lot of work, we are looking to extend it if the cost isn't too high.
It's good living 200 meters from the sea, although since we moved in some prat has built a house blocking out only view of the sea.
Wed are keen to hear from other expats in the Papamoa/mt maunganui/tauranga area.
