only 5 weekends left in the UK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This blog is turning a bit into my therapy tool
A bit of a strange day today. D rather stressed about the move as I think am I and we needed a bit of time out to stop biting each other's heads off. He's convinced we are going to go bankrupt I'm convinced we will be fine just so long as we can sell the NZ house and the London flat. I can't wait for this time next year when we'll be shot of all our debt and worry and stress and strife, no matter where in the world we are. Sometimes you feel like you are about to go 'pop' with all that is going on. Would like off this hampster wheel please....
I think back to the 3 hour journey I had home last night because of train problems, the 2 hour jouney I had into work today because of train problems, and the 4 coach train which is normally a 10 coach train home tonight where I was wedged in the exit under someone's armpit and the fact I got stuck on the Victoria line today in the sweltering heat and stink of it all paying ££££s for the experience.......you know after that surely there is only 1 way to go and that's up!
I also had a sad moment on the train today where I really appreciated how lucky I am at all to be able to do any of this. Someone very kindly left a Guardian out and my eyes fell on the article of that poor woman in Iran who was nearly stoned now will just be hung for supposedly having an affair. Horrendous. So for all you lot who go on about NZ being a third world country, I dare you to go somewhere like Iran and suck that up for a while. Then come back and tell me how horrendous NZ is
or the UK for that matter! Sure it isn't for everyone and I'm not saying that we should all sit around wallowing in guilt that we have it so much better than some, but please can we get a different perspective and count our blessings instead of being sooo negative all the time? And from one who struggles with anxiety attacks and the like, I know that being just a weeny bit positive can be done!
ANYHOOOO soap box moment over.......
Firstly, wonderful news, have just heard that an old schoolfriend is pregnant. Congratulations Rachel! I am surrounded (well in the virtual world) by lovely ladies all starting their adventures with their new families
Met up with a lovely friend of mine today (also pregnant, just found out she is having a boy yay) who did think we should keep the London flat as it is a great asset. But more because she thought we've got a get-out if we need it. I personally don't view it that way because that wretched place has just been one long heartache and migrane since we got it 5 years ago
has it truly been that long! Ouch wish I hadn't thought of it like that now!
Reading through some of the posts that people have made on here, I just can't help but feel we are slaves to property ownership. There's no point in hanging on to somewhere which just causes you stress really! But obviously if it doesn't cause stress then keep it - but being a landlord is a pain in the proverbial. I totally get the point of being mortgage free and all that but people do seem to obsess about this overly much. One day we will be in a house again - I do miss living in my own home - but on our terms and one which we can afford. Oh I can dream......
Anyway, back to the move! House of Fraser had the most fabulous sale as I think I've said before and yesterday my box of goodies arrived. We are the proud owners of a goose down and feather superking duvet, 4 goose feather pillows and two sets of beautiful 100% cotton sheets and covers. And it was such a bargain! We've made the decision to take as little as possible apart from my new purchases - so new they ain't coming out of the wrapper. I will have to say goodbye to my nice telly but am already stalking Trademe to see what the prices are like.
This is our last proper weekend in Brighton as well
I do love it here. 5 weekends left in the UK is all we have OMG!!!!
And even then it's not really being at home!
Weekend 1 - I am working on Saturday and then Sunday we are off to see Sabira and her beautiful new baby girl and also their oldest, Maya, in Bournemouth.
Weekend 2 - Saturday we are part of a big party of very good and old friends of ours saying goodbye in London town. THEN on Sunday I am on an 8am plane up to Edinburgh for 4 hours to see my aunt and uncle and back down again and home in bed I hope by 8! I'm not very close to her but she's very unwell and it is worth the £150 to go and see a very poorly lady and try and cheer her up.
Weekend 3 - we are off to Manchester the following weekend to see Amanda and her new baby daughter Ella.
Weekend 4 - over to Beccles in Suffolk to see my aunt and uncle and cousins and also to work boooo :p
Weekend 5 - finally on our last weekend we head down to Plymouth to see my parents to say goodbye
but the nice thing is that we are all going to meet in Malacca in June next year for my aunt's 60th so it is good to have that in the diary already yay
