British Expats member Soapy© has been with our little virtual expat community for many, many years and is well known around the Australia forum. I've always considered him a "scholar and a gentleman" and I'm sure that many of you will share my sentiments.
He's arranged many meet-ups over the years, including good old Australian barbies and the odd golf tournament, but this year Soapy© and his lovely wife Pauline, have outdone themselves by arranging a British Expats Christmas in July get together. Held at Southport Soccer Club on the Gold Coast, on Saturday 16th of July, the food and drink flowed, and events included an England V The Celtic Nations football match, a fantastic disco run by BE member Dtox, and even Santa paid a visit complete with presents for the kids. There was also a raffle which raised several hundred dollars for a local expat who is fighting cancer. Attended by approx 200 people it seems a great time was had by all, and rumour has it that they will be another event next July. You can catch up with all the details (and pics) in this thread.
