Almost two weeks in

Well its 9.40pm here and I'm doing my best to stay awake.  Me and Tash went for a quiet drink after work which ended us rolling (literally) in at 1.45am!  Didn't make for the best start for my first proper day at Maples.  But the dacquiries at Deckers are worth it, although the mount gay rum and coke might have been pushing it a bit far for a Tuesday night.

Loving the hot weather, still trying to adjust to the humidity though, and as for hurricane season so far so good, although I will be going out at the weekend to stock up on some hurricane supplies. Life at Maples however isn't quite what I imagined.  It's nothing like Eversheds, which miss loads.  The people seem really nice but everybody is so quiet, theres not much laughing, joking or banter which is definately what I'm used to with the Private Equity Team!  I'm only 3 days in though so need to give it a few more weeks before making any rash decisions!!

Kim is flying out for 10 days in 3 weeks  so as you can imagine I'm very very excited about that! Checking out all the places I should take him - other than bars and restaurants which is all I've really seen so far!

I hear the weather back home isn't so great at the moment so I won't make it worse by telling you about relaxing in the hammock at the weekend, swimming in the ocean after work and cocktails by the beach...........

Struggling to stay awake now so think it's time for a cup of tea and then bed, going to need my wits about me in the morning when I attempt to catch the bus to work!! Will let you know how I get on.

Take care, missing you all loads, love Rach xx

I've arrived!!!

Well I'm finally here and its hot hot hot! Was 33 degrees when I landed on Friday and yesterday was even hotter.  Now as much as I like the heat, I'm not so keen on the humidity, but can't complain.

All settled in my new apartment and its great as is my housemate Annette.

Have had a quick tour of the island today, it is beautiful although in lots of places you can still see the after effects of Hurricane Ivan which destroyed lots of the island back in 2004.

Jetlag is still effecting me a bit but sure I'll survive.

Went out on the Jolly Roger last night, pirate ship for 2 1/2 hours all you can drink for CI$28 (bout seventeen pounds) and I was so tired I only managed about 5 drinks!

All thats left to sort out now is the whole work thing, but can't do anything about that until tomorrow, just hope it doesn't take to long cos well I'm not working I'm not being paid :0(

Let me know about all the news back home, miss you all loads

Bon Voyage

All packed and ready to go!! Just waiting for Naomi to straighten my hair before we head off to the train station for the final farewell.

Most of my life is now packed into a very large bag, a large suitcase & a small suitcase, the rest is in mum's spare room.

Very very very very very very excited about my next big adventure, but also a bit sad to be leaving all my family and friends behind.

Will right again when I get to the sunshine!

3 weeks to go!!

Hey everybody,

Thought I'd set up a blog so when I finally get to the Caymans you can all see how I'm doing.

Can't believe that after all my talking, I'm finally going!  This time in 3 weeks I'll be sipping dacquaires with Tash!  I'm soooooo excited but also getting very nervous, panicky and sad.  Two goodbyes so far (see you in 12 months Laura & Carmen!) and a whole load more, which means lots of photos, alcohol & crying no doubt.

My last weekend in the flat in London so best get on with the last of my packing before my last week at Eversheds, actually very very sad to be leaving, had a great working there and even going to miss the hustle and bustle of London.

Going to miss Mum, Naomi, Dad & Gill loads, along with the rest of my family and friends. Two big pluses tho, Tash and Ben are already in the Caymans and even more exciting I'm that little bit closer to Kim, counting down until I get to see him in September, very very very very excited about that.

Anyway guys I'll write again just before I leave and then it'll be regular up dates with all my Caribbean Adventures!!

Lots of love Rach xxxx
