Tumour, Shingles or an Infection?

So I told you that I was itchy the other day right?  The itching is about the same, no matter what I do, but......last night while I was enjoying my evening gentle scratching and twitching, I noticed a huge lump behing my ear!

I didnt think much of it at first, I'm sure I had a smaller lump there for years (lymph glands or something)? But then I asked OH to have a feel of both sides together.....his face dropped:

"Crikey luv that's fepping massive"!! He gasped, and I could see the shock turn to into concern across his face (bless him). The worry was immediately infectious (unlike my itching).

The lump is about the size of a 10p coin across, it's firm, but not rock-solid, it doesnt feel like fluid, and a little bit tender?

I've been worrying about it all night (you know how I love to worry) , the OH keeps looking at me and forcing a pitiful smile, he keeps hugging me too! FFS it's just not like him!!

Sssooooo.......... I rang the doctors this morning, after I eventually got through (20 mins of constant re-dial from their opening time of 8.30)..this is how the conversation went...

Me: Please could I have an appointment today sometime?

Receptionist: No sorry we're full!

Me: I've been trying constantly since 8.30, I really need to see someone today....please?

Receptionist: No sorry we're full!

Me: Can I ring later to see if you've got a cancellation.........please??

Receptionst: No sorry we're full!

Me: I'm so worried - I've discovered a lump please, is there any way I can come and wait?

Receptionist: No sorry we're full!

Me: I haven't slept worrying about it! Please!!??

Both of us: No sorry we're full!

I hung up - realising I'll have to put on a false accent tomorrow when I ring back. The only problem is when I'm trying to do a any sort of accent than my own, it comes out like a French Indian Scooby Doo with a speech impediment!  *sigh* ah well....

I've been doing some research and its either an infection/swollen lymph gland combo, a Cyst , Shingles, or a tumour......
