Hi, I'm Emma, 27 years old and I'm writing this blog to keep a diary of my family's move (if it happens) but also for people to give me advise...please! For the last 2 months now my husband who is 30 years old and I have been considering moving to Australia with our 2 children (Harry 4yrs & Evie 2yrs). We're looking to move to Perth through a skilled visa for my husband. He's a metal fabricator, fabricating, polishing and welding - TIG & Stick - stainless steel. My hubby is 100% on moving but I have doubts - which I think any sane person would, moving their family across to the other side of the world. We have the money ready to use the agents OE based in Scotland. My hubby is going to apply for a level 3 AQF and then be passed by the TRA and then apply for the visa. So before we take the 1st step we have to make sure its what we want; in his words "its up to me now" - eek!! I would love to move over there and raise our children in a beautiful place, with great outdoor activities, good schools and a general better life for us all - hopefully. It's that "Hopefully" that I'm worried about. What if it doesn't work out, what if he can't get a job? What if we give up our house - which by the way once we've paid to come over and settled our debts here should be enough to see us through the year. We're not able to come over and purchase a house outright like those reallocation shows always seem to show. In effect we would be starting all over again but at the age of 27 and 30 years, that's not too late is it?? I would like to work also if we did go over there, at the moment I work part time for a bank doing customer service. I think to work out there would be good so that I got a chance to meet new people. My brother and his girlfriend are moving over there in Oct this year. They have a 12 month working visa, he is skilled - ex engineer for the army. So he's hoping to get sponsered out there. This means if we go then I leave begind my mum and dad all on their own, I'd miss them so much. But I've realised that I'm the mum now and need to make a decision based on what best for my babies. Will up date this with what my decision is ASAP as at the minute I feel like my lifes on hold and I'm in limbo. Any advise on jobs, life out there with small children is very much appreciated. At the moment I live in Heywood, Greater Manchester. Anyone from around this area will probably say " waht do you want to stay there for??!!!" lol Thanks Again
