Saturday, November 5, 2005 - Two more notches on my belt

It's been a busy week for job hunting. I had 2 more interviews, one on Thursday and another on Friday.

Thursday's interview could be promising, we spoke for nearly 3 hours and I do not want to jinx it but it looks like there could be an offer put forward?  At the risk of souding ungrateful I have mixed feelings, the good points are that it is an enormous British corporation, pay is okay with possibilities of bonuses and advancement , I would  get a company car, the position would be a lot more  out in the field and hands-on, as opposed to being stuck in an office. The not so good points are that it would bring me back to a similar position I held 12 years ago, there would be no international travel ( which might be a good thing with 2 kids) and it is not a management position as my last job was. I don't want to count my chickens before they are hatched and we will see if an offer is forthcoming.

 Friday's interview goes down in the record books for the longest drive for an interview, 75 miles each way meant a 150 mile roundtrip drive to beautiful Rialto, California, thankfully I would also be out in the field with this position, and would only have to drive 150 miles to Rialto and back once a month. The interview seemed to go well, however the interviewer said he might need 2 or 3 more meetings to make a decision, which would mean another 300 - 450 miles driving.

I also have a couple more very preliminary 'irons in the fire' so to speak, I feel like something is going to give very soon.
