Monday, October 31, 2005 - How the other half die

Yesterday we took our son to the north side of Santa Monica to look at the Halloween decorations and lights. Santa Monica north of Montana Blvd  is very affluent, that is where the multi-million dollar houses of lawyers, movie stars and god knows who else are located. Some of the houses such as the one pictured above looked like something one would see at Universal Studios with flashing lights, spotlights, various macabre dummies in various poses of turture hanging from lush trees, arched windows, balconies and doorways. There were lots of lit up trees, pumpkins, giant spiders and various other scary things for our son to see. The photograph does not do the houses that we seen justice as I'm sure some of these people's seasonal decorations and lights were  worth more than my car.

Really nice for my son to see as he can start to appreciate the various efforts that people have went to in decorating for the scary day. He is still too young to realize the scary significance of the latex dummies of skeletons, ghouls, goblins and  witches that were included in some of the wonderful displays.

Maybe next year he will be aware of their true horrific meaning............. and I can sue the rich bastards for child trauma!!!
