I’ve been seeing her for a while now,

she’s been there for me when I needed to escape in reverie.

Her persuasive sweet kisses tempting me day by day,

open and inviting yet hopeless to resist, I fall into her arms.

Does she lie this friend or antagonist? She claims that she wants nothing in return,

solely to soothe me in my insatiable desire.

Alluring me in the noble company she keeps, 

the banquet with which she suggests we spend our hours.

While the flesh of my loins sits lonely and idle,

the splinter of the minds eye a stagnant pool of fetid decay.

Diversion or medication, imagination or veracity.

She offers the gateway to Morpheus in her unyielding grasp, only to return the next vacuous day in all her scarlet splendor.

Cold as brittle steel yet zealous and intoxicating she lies there in waiting, wanting.

On an infinite errand from her master Baccus,

the vixen of Rome manically whispers in my ear to accompany her once more.

Promises of serenity from within if I will only share with her in her corpse,

her blood, her magical perfume.

Reveal yourself claret temptress, crimson Eve, scarlet jezebel,

glorious in the late twilight hour of our precious squandered moments.
