Wednesday, September 28, 2005 - Bob Dylan sucks ass

I was so looking forward to watching the Martin Scorsese documentary on Bob Dylan.  I like a couple of his songs but I've never really been into Bob, I thought the special two part documentary might open my mind to the 60's  counter culture guru, and the film was by Martin Scorsese. I could only manage to make it through most of the first night of the documentary and didn't even tune in to the second part, preferring instead to contribute to a circumsicion thread, how painful is that?

Bob came across as mumbling and inarticulate in his interviews, perhaps there is deeper meaning I thought as I continued to watch. I didn't see any, just a vacuous ugly guy from Minnesota with a harmonica and a  bad  voice who seemed to be in the right place at the right time. Maybe I'm too shallow or you had to be there in the 60's to get it. I'd imagine hallucinogenic drugs would have probably helped.

James' new word is 'football'. He has seen me watching it on the TV and has also got into playing with balls at the park. He pronounces it BOO-BAA and I'm bloody proud that it's one of his first words, Elina seems less impressed.

It is very hot again here at the moment, the Santa Ana winds are blowing in which is usual in Southern California at this time of the year.

 We live close to the beach and it is nearly 90 degrees F (30 C) in the shade. It must be well over 100 inland. We went shopping today and our check-out girl bore an uncanny resemblence to Peter Sellers in ' What's new Pussycat', with the page-boy haircut and glasses, we found it quite hilarious.
