Tuesday, September 13, 2005 - Little white boys CAN jump

Our son James is 23 months old, he has been going to the park a block from where we live since he was about 6 months old. He loves the park and goes at least once a day, he likes the swings, sand pit, slides and the see-saw. See saw  is a  word I have recently translated into my American lexicon as I only just learned it is called a teeter-totter in America. James latest thing for the last six months or so is balls, more specifically he has been watching the older boys and men on the basketball court next to the park. When the court is empty he emulates the grown players by feebly throwing his ball up towards the adult size hoop which is 7 feet off the ground and failing to get close, even whilst on my shoulders.

Solution found, Elina and I found this plastic, fluorescent hoop which I dutifully hung on the back of our door first thing this morning,  he loves it  and has been shooting hoops for 3 hours this morning.

Next we plan to put him on steroids and  a course of human growth hormone injections. I will make sure he practices for 4 hours a day, every day, screw the teeter-totter/see-saw or whatever it's called. I smell money, corporate sponsors and the NBA!!!!
