Sunday, September 11, 2005 - We miss you Dora

I have played football (soccer) on a Sunday for about 8 or 9 years with a group of mostly guys from all over the world. Occasionally we have some females that want to play, usually a freind, girlfreind, wife or relative of one of the male players.

Dora was one of the few female players, she used to turn up on quite a regular basis, she was not a prolific player but would get some exercise, block some shots and generally enjoy herself to the best of her abilities in her feminine purple Diadora outfit, always pleasant and smiling for the duration of the game. From time to time Dora's daughter would also play alongside her Mom as her daughter played soccer in college.

Dora  had a lot to live for, a great job as Associate Director of clinical research for a major bio-tech firm, a young son of about 7 or so and  her newly purchased house in Santa Monica.

Dora Marie Menchaca never got to enjoy the full promise of her life as she was unfortunate enough to be travelling home from a business trip on AA flight 77 on September 11th 2001, we miss you D.
