Monday, June 19, 2006 - Playing with my little white balls

It has famously  been described by Mark Twain as "A good walk spoiled" or anonymously punned as " a game played by men with little balls", I am of course referring to the game of golf.

I have played a few times as a kid, back then it would incur an extra cost ( probably 5 or 10p) if you lost the 3 balls they issued with the one club and putter, invariably we used to just leave the golf clubs and jump over the fence after losing all the balls to avoid the princely extra cost.

I've only played a few times since those childhood days in Brum however I started playing and hitting balls on the driving range about 6 weeks ago and am getting a little more into the game.............. although I suck having only played 3 games.

 So I guess it's official, I'm truely middle aged. I'm still playing soccer every Sunday, but am way past the boxing I did in my teenage years.

Next comes the tartan pants, hats with bobbles on them, silly white and brown golf shoes and ugly golf shirts and sweaters. See if my game improves or if I get bored with the whole thing?!?!.................. ......Of course there is always the driving round on the golf cart drinking beer part.
