Since arriving in Canada, I have developed new skills which proves that really is never too late to teach an old dog new tricks. I can now drive on the other side of the street, see pedestrians in my periferal vision and inticipate when they are going to cross before they even think about it. I can drink and drive - coffee of course. And turn right on red without my internal driving instrutor going off in my head. I know that a double double is not a tennis term or a bra size. That a loonie or a toonie is in fact money and not an insult. A duotang is pronounced dwatang and said very quickly. Most things are arsum (awesome if you come from the UK) and that a toque is something that you wear on your head in the winter. A wicket is a teller at the bank. That tax is added after you have worked out that you have enough money and Walmart does not seel beer, wine or petrol but you can buy just about anything else there. And there is so much more to learn on our adventures. The smell of skunk does not go in one wash and possums are much cuter when you think they are dead. |
