Following a dream

new job!

well, a new job for 2 and a half months. I have been here for about 3 and half hours now and its like a breath of fresh air.

Its only short -term I know, and yet I feel  that its somewhere that I can lick my emotional wounds and get back to being me at work.

Have had a great weekend with the kids, its been lovely to enjoy it without the menace of that last place.

flights are booked and I passed those pesky exams - at last!

Right, we have decided that we are going to start the process ASAP, that way we have at least a chance of getting in under the current scheme.

Oh, and flights are booked , we arrive on June the 10th - it cant come soon enough!

And at least I passed all those exams - I can officially call myself an accountant - at last!

the highs and lows of information

we seem to have been on a rollercoaster finding out as much as we can in the time so far.

It transpires that we can use the equity in our house as proof of funds which will at least start the ball rolling. And then we find that we can land and then come home and have a couple of years to sell the house, find a job etc and move. Just got to time it all right and keep reading as much as possible. Also, some entries in the discussion forum are from people who are unhappy in Canada, mainly by the winter, which is sad but I guess I need a balanced view. Also, theres this sodding crappy economic climate everywhere.....

At least I havent chickened out of this idea as I have done in the past. Maybe I am getting braver, maybe its just the right time at last.

Anyway, we have printed the forms for FSW and decided that we rather fancy Nova Scotia as a destination, architecture is rather like Key west or as close as I can hope to find it, and the summers there seem to be good. I just dream of a wrap around deck for summer!

Anyway, we have decided that we will try to do a recce trip this year but have some serious exams cash to shell out so we are saving hard, for the first time in years.

We are going to do this!

We have finally decided that it may be out time and that we can make this happen and move to canada. Initially felt very excited when discovered my profession on the LIST but then excitement evaporated when we did further investigation and discovered that we need either a job offer or a large sum of cash.

Naturally we can sell the house but we wanted to rent it out.... I am not sure I am ready to sell this house yet as I love it and if we cant emigrate then I would have sold my house as well.... maybe I am being too negative.

Also we dont undertstand yet if we need to sell the house or have the job offer before we can apply for visas... need to do more research.

We so want to move to Canada, to finally realise my 17 year old dream.

Last night hubby decided to see if he could transfer his job, who knows. Such early stages its hard to know what to do first and what not to do.

Perhaps we need an immigration consultant........
