In 11 weeks ................ we'll be leaving Bristol for Windsor. The countdown has started but it's just not going fast enough. Treaded water again today - docs, school, docs, Yate, swim, school, home, school, home, youth group, friends, home again. Still, at least it's now stress free and I'm coping now that I am off work. Much more peaceful at home for everyone. Long may it continue.12:17 - Tue 13 June 2006 - comments {0}Day whateverBored today. Paul spent the day washing the car and I did the washing, ironing, washing up etc. Yaaawwwnnnn. In 11 weeks we'll be spending our last evening in Bristol. It sounds so far away and I wish it would just hurry up. My enormous 'to do' list is exhausted now until July when it kicks in again big time, but, for the moment, all I can do is monitor the exchange rate.
I went for a run this morning at 7.30 because of the heat, it would be great to run along the beach early morning in Oz followed by some laps in the pool but I know that this is only a dream. We're going to be lucky to afford a 2 bed place let alone anything near the beach or with a pool. Maybe sometime in the future, maybe not. Small price to play to be able to give up work. I'll just have to keep reminding myself of that !! 09:04 - Sun 11 June 2006 - comments {2}Day 3What a day !! Took kids to dance group early this morning (way too early for a Saturday) then helped out with the tuck shop for a bit before retiring to read my fitness magazine. It must look quite funny to see an obese woman reading a running magazine !
It was our local community festival today and I was meant to be helping out on the church stall for an hour. The hour turned into the afternoon as I was avoiding the football and I spent most of it chatting as per normal. It was only as it was closing that I realised that I had burnt - I didn't realise it was so hot as it was so windy ! Kids were all lotioned up so were fine but I'm now the colour of a boiling lobster, whoops.
Girls came home and had a water fight which started out as fun and then turned into one long bickering session so bedtime came early ! 10:20 - Sat 10 June 2006 - comments {0}Day 2Had morning coffee in M & S with friends today. Long chat about absolutely nothing whilst sat in the sunshine. I will miss them but I'm sure I will make new friends. It is all a bit daunting though, having to make an effort - It's not something that comes naturally for me. With any luck the kids will make friends at school, their mums will be lovely and then I can get to know people that way.
I'm a bit worried about renting in Oz, not getting on too well in the UK renting, I just can't seem to be bothered to clean or cook or, well, anything ! So we hope to buy pretty much straight away but have no idea where we'll stay whilst we're looking or going through the process. I feel another headache coming on. I must remember to stop thinking. 07:28 - Fri 9 June 2006 - comments {1}Day OneWell, I've finally decided to write a 'blog'. As we migrate in less than 12 weeks it makes sense to start a diary as opposed to emailing loads of people similar things.
Today I have gone round and round in circles looking at potential suburbs to move to. Last night it was definitely Australind, now it ranges from Yanchep in the north to Australind in the south - it would only take just over 3 hours to drive this distance so at least we've managed to narrow it down !
It's all a bit mind blowing, we can't really make any decisions until we get there, which is exactly what we want to do - NOW ! We decided back in May that we wouldn't migrate until the end of August, mainly to enable us to save more money, we are regretting it now though, we feel like we are treading water all the time and just want to move onto our new life.
I am trying now to put it all to the back of mind and stop researching - some hope ! 07:15 - Thu 8 June 2006 - comments {0}
