Both our daughters are now adults. Gemma attended her graduation Ball on Tuesday and looked fantastic in a dress made by Jules, complete with matching purse. (photos some time soon). She had a great time coming home about midnight and then sitting down by the fire pit with several friends cooking sausages on long forks. They stayed over and she seems much more settled these days. Her boyfriend (Jay) from the UK arrives next Tuesday, so she is pretty excited about that. She is taking drivers education too..... It is all happening for her!

Gemma graduated from Fredericton High School on Thursday. Below are some photos from the ceremony at the Aitken Centre. I found out at the ceremony that Fredericton High School is the oldest in Canada (founded 1785). It used to be the largest secondary school in the Commonwealth and is still one of the largest in Canada.
.
After the ceremony and a reception at FHS until 11pm all the students were whisked off to SafeGrad an all night party (no alchol) at a camp on the edge of Maquadivic lake and poor Dad has to get up at 5:45am to pick her up from school on Friday morning..... I was tired all day. Gemma slept until 5pm ...

The Water Man came and filled up the above ground pool (a sort of adult paddling pool) $110 for 14,000 litres of water. We should have bottled it and sold it to the public for $1 a half litre which would still be cheaper than they pay now. I am still amazed at how much people are prepared to pay for a bottle of water!
.
The water temperature today was 19c and sounded warm! So in I climbed and I swear my armpit hair got frost bite! Anyway the pool is ready for the summer.

This week I have fixed up a couple of stud walls in the basement and it is looking pretty good. All that is left for me to do is to put up a couple of new lights with an extra switch; fix the plasterboard onto the ceiling; cut and nail on the skirting board ; cut and nail ceiling moulding and then watch Julie paint it all . The beds are moved downstairs and the girls are now in luxury with a double bed each. Julie has decorated their rooms and I was impressed with Kathryn's bedroom complete with handmade pelmets.

Tomorrow we have a Newcomers event - Potluck Picnic in Wilmot Park. Lots of people are going and taking outdoor games (Badmington, Croquet, Boules, and there are free tennis courts and a paddling pool in the park. The forecast is 24c and I predicting a great day .
.
I will take some group photos and share them with you. The Newcomers club is certainly growing, with more people coming out from the UK, and we have some new members from Germany and Switzerland
.
I have to dash the girls are challenging to a fight on the Wi and I love beating them. (its the only time I win an argument) |
