Well perhaps my diary is right and it is February the 42nd because the weather forecast for this weekend is snow for the next four days and perhaps a real humdinger of a storm on Sunday/Monday. The weather people have been scaring us with talks of upto 50cm of snow on Sunday / Monday and it sounds like Nova Scotia is going to bear the brunt of the storm as it comes up the coastline.
.
So tomorrow time to fill up the petrol can and check out the generator, fill up the cupboards with porridge and crisps. Buy in some dehydrated water as back up incase the well pump is off with the power . Candles, matches, and damn where did I put my 72 hour emergency guide book? Yes we really have one (well we have the booklet not a kit as such. I have a wind up radio and wind up torch, or flashlight as they call it here. They look at you a bit weird when you tell them you are going to fetch a torch. They imagine you are going to comeback with some flaming stick like they see in a medieval filmset.
.
You do realise this means that we will buy a snowblower next year and it won't snow like this for another 40 years! However if I don't buy a snowblower it will almost certainly snow like this again next year.
.
I will let you know how the forecast develops over the next couple of days. Now where did I put that packet of Husky's?
.PS this is my 100th entry! so make your mark by commenting on this auspicous occassion. Another big irony is that on Sunday I will be 50 (Oh my god half a century) and wouldn't it be even more spooky if we got 50cm of Snow ..... spooky music cuts in
