It seems this week has been a Bells Palsy recovery week.
The feeling is returning to my lips and cheek, and at last my cheap botox job is wearing off. The wrinkles are coming back in my forehead when I raise my eyebrow. I am now capable of blowing out my cheeks like a hamster without all the air 'whooshing' out the right side of my mouth.
.
My new found lip control means I can eat without having to worry about which side of my mouth the food is on. Also I don't have to watch the horror on Gemma's face as I attempt to eat pasta. Poor Gem has sat opposite me at the dinner table most of her short life and she has had to watch me attempting to eat and drink with only half my mouth working.
At last I can drink without having to slurp hard when taking the cup away from mouth. If I didn't slurp I ended up dribbling all down my front, so the lesser of two evils (or weevils) was the slurping sound rather than a drooling dad.
.
However I still have problems baring my teeth, and grinning my old fashion toothpaste ad smile.
Smiley Me several years ago (well 5 to be precise)
So sometime soon I am hoping to be able to audtion for Colgate and finally be able to smile, smirk, chuckle, laugh and guffaw with the rest of them.

If you have been reading this you will know that Kathryn (my eldest daughter) has been in the UK visiting Chris, staying in North Wales. Well it looks as if she took some Canadian weather with her. I was reading the weather news on the BBC and had to cross my legs laughing at the Met Office weather warning .... "It will get down to -3c" -3c now thats colds.... and the Policeman talking about the snow drifts...."It came to the top of my boots" phew that is deep!
.
I guess amounts of snow and cold temperatures are all relative to what you are used to. We are now used to temperatures below -20c, and see -12c or -15c as being a day to go out for a spot of Snow Shoeing. It snowed last night I think we had about 15cm of snow which we cleared (shovelled off the drive) this morning in about 30 minutes.
Tango lesson last night, we are starting to get a grip with the slower, more thoughtful style and moves... Julie learnt how to cut an ocho, she was looking good, and we can molinete! |
