Whelbourns in Canada

• Saturday 20 September 2008 - Winter is a coming ... first frosts

Yes we have had two frosts this last week and yesterday morning I had to scrape the frost off the windscreen before driving to work.

.

We are ready (I think), the wood is drying nicely and my chainsaw has been actively chopping down some either dead or fallen trees. Chopping the tree down is pretty easy, it is the chopping it up and moving it that is the real hard work! Although I do need the exercise so I don't complain (much). Plus it is boosting our wood pile. The wood I have recently cut down I will place at the bottom of the pile when we stack it in the garage so I will only burn it at the end of the winter (giving it more time to season).
