Crikey it's hot
We had our first proper day out at the beach planned for last Saturday.  We were up early as it was expected to be hot.  We met with Helen and Jonathan and Ellie down past Torquay on the start of the Gret Ocean Road and found a beach which looked gorgeous.  It was pretty empty - maybe just another 12 people on it.  The sea was fab, lovely and cool.  The kids had a great time playing in the waves and making sandcastles bit all of a sudden we started getting bitten by flies!!!!  It really got bad so we packed up and headed off to the main beach back at Torquay which was packed out (and no flies).  However, as it was nowe lunchtime and very hot, the sand had heated up and it wa salmost unbearable to stand on it.  Most of the others on the beach were playing in the water - now we know why lol.

Anyway, we had our picnic then went to the local ice cream shop before coming home at around 5pm.

On Saturday night we had been invited along with Sandra and Jim to Neil and Fiona's house.  We had a lovely meal and a good laugh.  The kids all made their own pizzas thanks to Fiona and Neil's daughter Evie who looked after them all (thanks Evie).  The only downer of the night wa sthe heat really.  Neil and Fiona's house has air con but it had packed in and boy was it a doozy of a hot night.  Never mind it can't have been that bad as we stayed til midnight!! :-)

This week has really flown by.  I'm not actually sure what we've done.  We've had lunch with Martine and Matthew, and an afternoon in Sandra's pool.  Oh I remember.  We went fruit pciking with Helen and her Mum and the boys on Tuesday.  What a great time we had.  We bought 2 large boxes of strawberries and a bucket of peaches.  he girls had a blast picking it all.  Poor Becca had a bit of a sore tummy the following day - but then she did eat more strawberries than went into her box hehe.

Yesterday it was 41 degreese and it's to be the same today so we're taking the kids to Scienceworks which is an interactive museum.  Ellie has been before withschool and she really loved it so it should pass the time until the cool snap comes in this afternoon and the temps get more reasonable.
