21 - 24 August
Tuesday
Mike had an interview with AXA in the city today so while he did that, the girls and I went to order the girls new beds.  This was the first time I'd driven alone here too which was great.  It's fab to have some independence again.  Mike's interview went well and he really likes the company so we're hoping he gets called back.

Wednesday
We had a lazy morning today then drove to Berwick for lunch.  While there, we also popped in on Karen and returned the Bratz dolls he litle girl had leant the girls.  Berwick's going to be a fair drive from Caroline Springs (1.5 hrs plus) so we thought it best to return the toys before we move.  On leaving Berwick we headed south and drove via Frankston down to Mornington.  It was a glorious afternoon, bright and sunny and around 17 degrees.  As it happens, Mornington has a weekly market on a Wedneday so it was a lovely day to visit.

Thursday
After weeks of no exercise, we took the kids swimming today.  We found the local public pool and what a lovely place it is.  It is massive, with 6 different pools inc an olympic sized pool and outdoor pools.  The big one was sectioned off for swimmers and for lessons and we saw at least 3 different bus loads of school kids come and go for lessons while we were there.

Friday
What a busy day!!  We had already booked an appointment for Ellie to be interviewed by her new school principle for 1pm but yesterday, Mike got a call to attend a 2nd interview with AXA at 1pm and then another call to go meet a client for the DWS job which he's already been offered at 2.30.  That meant, I had to take the kids to the school myself, but also, I had to drive home - alone - for the first time!!

The interview with the school went well.  We met one of the admin staff and she was very friendly and explained that the purpose of the interview was to chat with Ellie and I was to sit and relax (in other words, keep quiet lol).  Ellie did great.  She chatted away really well and I was really proud of her.  She told Fiona that that liked to read and wanted to go to school so she could learn to do it properly.  She also said she wasn't nervous of going to school but she didn't want to speak to silly boys!!  She also advised us that when she grows up she wants to be "a proper Mummy who doesn't work"!!!!!  Does that mean I'm doing something right??? lol.

The interview didn't last long and we left with a list of the uniform and books we need to buy.

I did fine on the drive home, thanks to the satnav.  It's difficult to compare the journey but it's a bit like driving from Edinburgh to Helensburgh only it's 3 and 4 lane freeways, tunnels and busy, busy roads the whole way.  On the way, we stopped at Knox City to get Ellie's school shoes and the "runners" she'll need for PE.  That'll be another $130 thank you very much.

We also had to go pay the first month's rent to the real estate agent today and to pay the balance of the electrical stuff we've ordered which is all done now.  Whilst at the real estate agent she confirmed the the fly screens and security doors are being fitted to the house tomorrow and that that work to tidy the garden has begun.  Should all have been completed before now so we'll see how long it takes to get it all finished.

Mike's interviews went well today too, although he did say they were both pretty tough.  He's getting a real feel that AXA's the job he really wants and so we've got everything crossed that he gets through to the next round.  He should hear early next week - keep everything crossed.

BTW - it was sunny and 20 degrees here today - I think Spring has sprung :-)

We get the keys to the house tomorrow so we're getting up early to get over and get it cleaned while we wait for the beds to be delivered.  The electricals we ordered arrive on Monday and we are hoping our furniture etc comes sometime before Thursday.  We've got Lynn, Campbell and the boys coming up for the weekend from Pt Fairy so we are hoping to be unpacked for that.  We might lose internet access for a few days next week while we wait for Telstra to connect us so you might not hear from us next week.  We'll have the mobiles on the whole time though so call if you need us.
