A Week In August
Friday
We promised the kids some fun today and much to their delight, we took them into town to ride the big wheel.  It was a little chilly but we were well wrapped up and had the wheel all to ourselves.  We've put up a few photos of us on the wheel and of the view from the wheel of the city.  We parked at the huge casino in the city which is only about £2.50 a day (very cheap as we'd spent £12 for 2 hours in a car park lst week).  The casino is MASSIVE, robably only a shadow of those in Las Vegas but still pretty spectuacular.  It was a little walk from their to the wheel and back again so the kids were shattered by the time we were home.

Saturday
Another fun day and we drove to St Kilda which is the tourist heart of Melbourne.  It's also famous for 3 other things: coffee and cake shops (that's another day out I think) and Luna Park fun fair.  We went to Luna Park and paid our $120 for unlimited rides.  The kids enjoyed it, but we thought it was rubbish to be honest.  Maybe in the evening it would be better but after visiting Disney, nothing will be the same I guess.

After Luna Park we walked to the beach and out along the pier.  The views of the city from there are spectacular and the water is crystal clear. It was warmer by now too and the sun was beating down on us so much that we put sun cream on and stopped for ice creams before going back for the car :-)

Sunday
A big day for us.  We were all up early to go collect Lucy and JAck from quarantine.  It was about a 45 min drive but worth it.  When we got there, Lucy was lying on a lovely comfy bed (but looked bored rigid) and Jack was eating.  They didn't seem to bothered by our arrival but whenwe got them home we got lots of cuddles.  They seem well, and Jack's def put weight on so they've been looked after.  Lucy has settled really well. Jack seems a little "lost" and gets aggitated if she can't see Lucy but she'll get there.

Monday
This was the day Mike has been waiting for - shopping day!!!  Over the past week he's been comparing TVs, uround sound systems and DVD players.  Today, he got to actually buy them.  We have gone for a 46" LCD 1080 HD TV (top of the range Mke informs me with a huge smile), a surround sound system and a PS3 for playing Blue Ray DVDs on.  Of course, we need something to sit on whilst watching this new kit so we're seen a new sofa in Ikea we're going to order at the weekend.  There was some less exciting shopping to be done too and we ordered an LG front loading washing machine (Aussies like top loaders but apparently they wreck your clothes and use loads more water) and a cool 2 side by side door fridge freezer.  There are some pretty cool fridges here but the prices aren't so cool lol.  All in we got several hundred dollars off the total price as we bought it all together so we're pretty happy.  Actually the only bit I coughed at was one of the cables Mike picked to connect the PS3 to the TV which cost $299 which was more than half the cost of the washing machine (he does like his cables lol).

After our marathon shopping trip we were quite happy and decided to take the girls out for dinner at Knox City where there are loads of restaurants.  As we got there we noticed some huge vans parked outside and gues what they were?  Neighbours production crew.  As we got into the complex, we got to watch them film a scene with Rachel and Zeke, which for Neighbours fan like me was great fun.  The girls were quite excited too.  Mike wasn't so impressed hehe.
