Another day, another interview.  Or rather a test.  Back in Scotland, I had an interview at 12:30am one night on the web cam, which was a surreal experience, sitting in my suit talking to an enthusiastic Aussie who had just had a major caffiene fix.

Anyway, this was a follow-up to that interview.  They wanted me to take some logical reasoning test, which I remembered we used at my old place, so I was confident this could be knocked on the head in under an hour.  It was a 10am appointment and Gill had a cracking migraine, so we drove into the CBD to find a car park near the office.  The roads weren't bad, but the directions from Tom Tom insisted that I turn right on one of Melbourne's tram-roads.  I had alway dreaded this, because Melbourne is one of the few city's in the world that has it's own driving manouver - the "Hook Turn".  You basically drive into the middle of the junction indicating right, move to the left hand side of the road so that you're blocking the traffic coming from the left and wait for the lights to change to red, then blast off through the way yu were trying to go in the first place - very disconcerting!!

Nonetheless, we survived this turn and parked-up.  The test was a gruelling hour and a half of tracing through logical instructions, just like trying to de-bug code.  I had forgotten how tedious this can be - Darrell, you have my respect and sympathy!  As soon as the test was over (I couldn't even face checking my answers) I bolted and made my way back to the car park, where Gill was asleep (still suffering) and the kids were watching a DVD in the back of the car.

We drove out to see Berwick again to see if we could narrow down the part we liked best.  Gill's friend Karen (from the Expats website) provided a coffee and some useful insight into the area before we made our way back home.  On leaving, Karen's daughter Heather gave the girls here collection of Brats dolls to borrow, which has been a life saver for them (and us!).
