9am start in the CBD (Central Busines District - city centre to you and me) for an interview with a recruitment consultant. The train was pretty quiet when I left Bayswater station, but by the time it arrived at Flinders Street, it was foo tae the gunnels. The recruitment guy had a couple of ideas but nothing concrete (usual story) and said he'd get back to me.
With Rebecca still not 100%, Gill and the kids took a later train and we met before lunch on the steps of Flinders Street Station. After a quick visit to tourist information we made our way to Southbank for a bite to eat.
My next interview was with a company who provide professional contract resource. This was a grilling and a half from one of their senior guys who had been there "since the beginning". He wanted to know everything about me as a person before we even started talking about work. Where I was from, how many were in the family, what my dad did for a living - on and on. He spoke quickly, without a pause hich in turn made me speed up until the question and answers were tripping over themselves. It was like playing mental squash with him! At the end of a hour and 10 minutes he closed his notebook and just looked up - silent or the first time - and said "I think I understand where your coming from now" and with that he stoo up, told me he would refer me on to his collegues and showed me out. A very bizarre experience.
So I met up with Gill and the girls and we headed home - time for a stubbie!
