As you might recall, I had my hair dyed really light and cut short last month in a moment of madness. Had been pondering it for ages and finally decided to go for it - HUGE mistake!! Hated it, still do. Most people said they liked it but I just couldn't get used to it. Even Mike said he wasn't keen and that's saying something as he usually likes whatever I do. Worst thing it, it cost so much to get it done and I dreaded the thought f having to pay the same amount again to get it dyed back to brown and then re-highlighted.
So, I decided to DIY it back to brown and save some pennies. The colour ws great and when Mike saw it his reaction was "WOW" and a big smile. Then I went to the hairdresser (Sarah-Jayne) yesterday and got her just to tidy the cut a bit o it grows in neatly and re-do my highlights. Looks WWWAAAAYYYY better now
. I love going to the hairdressers. 2 hours of chatting about all sorts, and no kids lol. Sarah-Jayne just got married so while my colour was developing I watched her wedding DVD on her portable DVD player.....wedding photos are SO yesterday lol.
My second cousin Kevin got married yesterday. Kevin and his brothers are the kind of extended family that we grew up seeing lot of, but as adults, it's weddings and funerals. Although, I have still seen lots of his parents and the other "adults" when they are through visiting my folks.
The wedding was great. We were only invited to the evening reception and by the time we got there the kids were uber excited to see a bride and dance in their twirly dresses. The bride looked gorgeous in her eBay dress (good for her, it was stunning) and all the guys were in flower of Scotland kilts.
I had a good old bitch with my Mum and Aunty Helen about some of the shocking outfits on display which included the 50 odd yo Mother of the Bride in a dress fit for an 18 yo at a prom, and the huge fat guy in a new kilt which hadn't even had the white stitching removed (the kind that goes around the bottom to keep the pleats in place). He looked like a huge plue tulip lol. And when he bent over to pick soeting up, he nearly eclipsed the sun, as well as giving us a sight which should NEVER be seen!!!
The kids danced their little socks off to the music. The band were amazing, possibly the best wedding band I've ever heard. I think they are called Miami and are aparently Hamilton's equivalent to mega stars. Apparently Kevin and Kirsty moved their weding date 3 times just to make sure they could book them.
Rebecca fell asleep on my knee around 10pm during a particularly loud Queen medley and Ellie eventually gave up around 11 so we decided it was time to go.
Now the hard bit - saying goodbye!!!!!! When we had arrived Aunty Helen gave me and Mike a BIG hug and said she wasn't saying goodbye at the end of the night, just see you next week. HHhhhmmmmm, when the time came it was really hard. Hugs and tears all round and my uncle Robin giving Mike a very stern talking to about looking after me. My Mum looked like it was taking it's toll on her too. God, I'm welling up just remembering it. Saying goodbye to Kevin was good though, we had a hug and he said "Gill I'll never get to Australia so I guess the next time we see each other will our one of our funerals" then we burst out laughing - but he was right I guess.
Feeling a bit raw this morning still, that's the goodbyes well and truly started. Next week is our friends Mark and Morna from Belgium who are over for a holiday, Mike's Uncle Eric and some old friends, and the week after that our old neighbours Craig and Lorna - this bit's not nice.
If the weather improves, we're going to drive to St Andrews (Mike's birthplace) today for a BE meet. Will let you know how it goes.
On a positive note, we're busy emailing jay at Jay's Animal Encounters to get a family spider phobia sesion arranged before we fly and we've also bought our Aussie maps for the TomTom and were out yesterday looking at new cars which we'd like when we move.
