Anyone Got A Giant Hamster?

We went through our paperwork last night and were ruthless!  We have shredded mountains of paper - stuff going back to 2000 which we should have gotten rid of ages ago.  I now have 3 large bin bags of shredded paper going to the tip, unless of course, anyone with a giant hamster needs it.

Tonight is the big PC clear up and we'll transfer all our important files (mostly photos and videos) onto the laptop which will be moving with us.  i know the chances of anything happening to the PC are slim, but I don't want to risk losing things like the kid's first steps videos and baby photos.

We seem to be on track for getting everything ready for the shippers by Tuesday.   My Mum and Dad are having the girls overnight on Thursday so that gives us most of Friday (got Granny's big family do on Friday night), most of Saturday and Sunday morning (going to Jim and Moira's for Easter dinner) to get the rest of our stuff for the summer/landing in Aus moved to the rental, and the rest of the stuff ready for the shippers.  We've a fair bit of stuff to be flat packed still but that seems like plenty of time.  fingers crossed.  We're hoping to get it all done by Sundy night so we can enjoy Monday off as a proper day off and get settled into the rental - we'll see!

So how does all this feel - terrifying!  We're moving out this weekend and it is sold next week.  I had hoped I'd have prepared myself for it by now, but I'm still not ready to move emotionally.  Plus, Mike's been working hard so not had a lot of time to think about it and I think when he's had a few days off work this weekend and spent it all here packing, it will hit him too.  Think there's going to be a few tears shed this coming week!

That said, with this bit out of the way, we can start to look forward and really get into the nitty gritty of the move by starting to apply for jobs, look at suburbs, book accomodation, transfer money etc.

Oh I nearly forgot, I had a major wobble yesterday!  Was watching Home and Away and someone was leaving the show and they were all in tears.  That in itself is usually enough to set me off but there I was, tears welling up and I was thinking "I'm going to Mum and Dad's tomorrow, wait till I tell them I was crying at Home and Away again"....and it hit me like a brick......Soon, i won't be able to just drive over and see them to share stuff like that.  I actually sobbed for a good 5 minutes so much so that my eyes were bright red and I had mascara all over my face.  Oh dear.
