Giant Inflatable Kangaroos and Birthday Cakes

Thursday

A proud day indeed.  My baby (4yo) got her first ever swimming badge for swimming 5 metres unaided in the pool.  She's ssooooooo proud of herself, and we're so proud of her too.

Hair cut day.  I'd been thinking of a restyle for a while.  Either that or growing it again. I don't ever want it really long again as my hair's a nightmare (think, wavy and unruly) but it's nice shoulder length.  Anyway, Sarah-Jane my hairdresser reminded me that I don't manage it well long so I decide to get it cut short and a bit lighter at the front too.  Sitting in the hairdressers after over 2 hours of dying and cutting it was done and I thought it looked great.  Next morning after I'd slept on it it was a different story.  Do you remember that video of Cherie Blair andwering the door at No10 with seriously bad bed hair - that was me!!!!!  Tried every lotion, spray and gel in the house to tame it but had to resort to rewashing it and straightening it but no matter what I do, I just can't get it to lie the way SJ did.  I REALLY don't like it.  Mike told me he thought it was "nice" - that word itself told me he hated it.  Come Sunday I still couldn't get it to sit nicely so I have learned my lesson - NEVER EVER GETTING MY HAIR CUT SHORT AGAIN!!!

Friday

Drove the kids to Mike's Mum and Dad's in Kirkcaldy and then drove straight back to Glasgow to meet Mike.  We had a lovely Italian meal before heading to the Clydeside Arena for The Australian Pink Floyd Show.  It was amazing, and like a big kid, I bought myself a cute t-shirt at the gig with a pink kangaroo on it and was delighted to get into a size small (changed days).  I nearly wept when they played Comfortably Numb.  It really was awesome and the light show was fantastic - complete with giant inflatable jumping kangaroo.  Obviously it wasn't the real thing but it was damn near it.  Aussie Pink Floyd was the first live band Mike and I saw together so it was very apropriate that for our wedding anniversary, and on the eve of our move to Australia that we saw them again.

Saturday

In agony today.  All that driving and sitting yesterday has played havoc with my coccyx and despte a good night's rest it's still really sore.  A few pain killers over breakfast then and on with the day.  This is our wedding anniversary (Happy 6th Anniversary Mike) and Ellie's birthday.  We should really be having a lie in and enjoying the girls being away for the night but with so much to do before we move we just can't do it.  We get up and Mike finished cleaning the bikes in the garage while I cleaned the house.

The girls came home around lunchtime and we made a fuss of Ellie while she opened her pressies.

When Mike's Mum and Dad left, we drove off to Glasgow for Ellie's birthday treat - a trip to see The Bratz Show Live.  Personally, I thought it was a waste of money.  They were on stage for 1 hour in total with a half hour break in between!  Anyway, Ellie enjoyed it so that's all that's really important.  We popped into Pizza Hut for tea on the way home and the girls were both asleep by the time we got home.

Sunday

Ellie's birthday weekend continued as we had her party this morning.  We had Ceramic Experience booked for her and 7 friends and cousins and it was a big success.  The kids all loved the party and behaved so well doing their painting.  Ellie loved being centre of attention but in a nice way - it was a complete change to last year's party which was mayhem and horrible.

My Mum and Dad came over in the afternoon and we all went to Frankie and Benny's for dinner which was great.  Mum and Dad have been in Brazel for a fortnight so we've not seen them for over 3 weeks so it was nice to catch up.  The girls behaved realyl well in the restaurant and were delighted when the waitress brought out a cake for Ellie and the whole place sang happy birthday to her.

Not a bad weekend really  Mind you, it cost a fortune, couldn't do that every weekend.

BTW - Ellie wants to get herself Lelli Kelly shoes withher birthday money - does anyone know where to get them except online???  Can't find them anywhere!

This coming week's going to be mad.  We're moving house on Friday and have until next Monday ot flat pack our furniture and get everything ready for the move.  Got to spend a lot of time also moving all our important files off the PC and onto the laptop too and going through all our paperwork so we don't ship anything important.  Here goes.........
